We had the good fortune of connecting with Denise Murray and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Denise, how does your business help the community?
My business helps the community by providing them resources to help with business and accounting issues. My business also help upcoming entrepreneurs market their business on my platform every Wednesday evening on my segment called, The Face Behind the Brand.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is a one stop shop. My business helps individuals start a business by getting their business registered with the state, obtaining employer identification number (EIN), professional email address, professional phone number, Duns & Bradstreet number and setting up a NAV account. We keep the business owners peace of mind by handling their bookkeeping, payroll, sales tax, fuel tax, corporate taxes, personal taxes and notary services. I handle all these services, that is what sets my business apart from others.
I am most proud about being able to help people obtain a Plan B or to just turn their passion into treasures.
I went from job to job, not because of anything I did but because of the market. From 2008 – 2017 I went through several layoffs. That is why I started my business. I only worked it as a side business because I still had a full time job, but I still worked my business daily. I got to where I am today by using my Plan A (corporate job) to fund my Plan B (my business). It was not easy. I was scared to walk away from my job because I was scared of losing my salary and benefits. I was a single parent so I was very scared of not knowing how I would pay my bills. That kept me second guessing being an entrepreneur. After going through the layoffs, I said to myself that I would never rely on a job for my sole income, I would always have a Plan B.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a best friend was visiting the area and I wanted to show them the best time ever, I would take them to Sudo Bar and Grill. Not just because it’s close to my home but they have great food and it’s a whole grown folks vide. If it was a week long trip I would take them to Atlanta and get a city pass so they can get the sites of the city. We would do the CNN tour, Georgia Aquarium, Coca-Cola tour and the zoo. I would also find some local events to go too. I would pick the local events by the vibe of the day, seafood, soul food, Caribbean food or Mexican food.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to give a special shout out to two people.
One being Gerald Bass with The Rise of the one Percent. Without his business I would have never learned as much as I did when it comes to scaling my business. He taught me not only how to market but the process of doing it organically. He provided step by step guides on how to do landing pages, funnels, social media set up and so much more. His business help me scale my business in a way that helped me become an 100% entrepreneur. I was able to quit my corporate job due to his business.
The second person that I have to give a shoutout to is Brandy James. Without Brandy introducing me to Gerald I would never been able to scale my business on the time frame that I did it on. Brandy is a women that would connect you to people that are on your level or better. I love that about her because in todays society, there are so many people that will have information that can help you but are not willing to help people. She has a heart of gold and I will always love her for that.
