We had the good fortune of connecting with David Gomez Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi David, what role has risk played in your life or career?
It’s all about risk it’s all or nothing if your not able to take risk and take a chance at what you strive for then what you seek may never happen you’ll never know don’t be afraid to take risk, you must be willing to make sacrifices, taking risk played a big role in what I do today taking risk is what connected me with my agency and gotten me in the position to work with some of the best people in the business
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is inspirations/roles models & my plan the way I sort my work out, what I can say I’m proud of and excited about is that I have finally been connected with an agency. I’ve gotten to where I am today by just doing what I believe would get me far and putting in the work and effort, it was definitely not easy after I had taken a short pause in my passion, I overcame my challenges by going at my own pace and not giving up, the lessons that I’ve learned is to be patient and to never quit on what you want in life and that making mistakes are apart of growing, that saying no is okay and that not everyone liking you is acceptable. I want the world to know that my work has major meaning and that hopefully my work can influence people as well as my role models influenced me.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had someone visiting my city we would go to Downtown Houston and just go with the flow we would first probably visit the galleria do some shopping, then eat out at a nice lounge atomic bottle, seaside lounge some hookah bar and hang out, grab a room at the post oak hotel and visit a night club in the city
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ll start of with my mother for following me behind this path, my deceased role models who inspired me “Uncle & Grandfather” growing up, Also to all of the rap icons that have influenced my style of dress, and wanna give credit to all of the photographers that I have worked with along the way for being apart of my portfolio and god for giving me power to keep faith in myself
