We had the good fortune of connecting with Travis Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Travis, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I began my interior design firm in 2019 as I was preparing to separate from the United States Air Force. I knew that I didn’t want to work a 9-to-5 job that wasn’t really fit for me. Instead, I wanted to be able to have creative freedom and the ability to work on my own time and terms. This was also around the time that I had moved into my first apartment. Being that this was my first I wanted to be sure that it was perfect! So I designed it and decided to post my accomplishment on Facebook and the rest was history. The response I received amped me to start doing design as an actual career. Not long after that moment, I got all of my business affairs in order and my company was birthed. I’ve always had a passion for design since I was a young child but of course, I had no idea what I was setting myself up for back then. Now I’m happily operating Travis Pernell Interiors and designing luxury interiors for my clients.
What should our readers know about your business?
I’m truly proud of how I’ve evolved my business into a true experience for my clients. From the very first day that we speak over the phone, I make sure that they feel comfortable with working with me and that they know they’re in great hands. Since I’ve stamped Travis Pernell Interiors as a luxury interior design company I strive to give my clients nothing less than the best. That goes beyond interiors but also throughout their entire experience and interaction with my company. Getting TPI to this stage was definitely a trial and error phase. I’ve done things right but also wrong. Those wrongs were learning lessons that helped me grow and uphold myself up to a certain standard of perfection. With the help of a few successful design friends and self-reflections, I figured out what exactly I needed to do to give my clients a consistent memorable service.
I would like the world to know that Travis Pernell Interiors isn’t a company that will design your home for you to today and hate it tomorrow. We strive to honestly get to know our clients and what works best for them. Clients are able to share their wildest ideas and we are responsible for figuring out how to make them make sense today, tomorrow, and for years to come.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being that I’m still considered new to the area our week would be full of exploring, partaking in many cocktails, eating at a few fine dining experiences, shopping til we drop, and of course enjoying the nightlife!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I honestly first have to give thanks to God! This journey has certainly not been a fairytale story. There were times that business was very slow and doubt started to set in. I wondered was I good enough and when would the opportunity for me to show my gift come but with faith, trust, and belief I kept persevering through it all. Also, I’d like to recognize my family, friends, and design friends for their love and encouragement. If it wasn’t for their reshares of my work and recommendations I wouldn’t have received most of the clients that I worked with in the beginning stages of my career. Still to this day their support is in full effect.
