Meet Dalanee Wesley | Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dalanee Wesley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dalanee, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting Da’ Artistry was driven by my desire to share the joy makeup brings to others. I’ve always loved how a well-executed makeup look can boost confidence and brighten someone’s day. The ability to create those moments and watch my clients leave with a smile is what pushed me to build my own business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career as a makeup artist has been a journey of passion, dedication, and constant growth. What sets Da’ Artistry apart is the focus on creating a personal, joyful experience for each client. I don’t just apply makeup—I take time to understand their vision and make them feel comfortable and confident in their own skin. It’s about bringing out their beauty and ensuring they leave the chair feeling empowered.
Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. I faced challenges like balancing two jobs while building my business, navigating new techniques, and constantly learning. I overcame them by staying persistent and never losing sight of why I started—my love for the craft and the joy I wanted to bring to others.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that success requires patience and resilience. It’s not just about talent but also about showing up every day, continuing to improve, and staying connected with your clients. I want the world to know that Da’ Artistry isn’t just about beauty; it’s about spreading joy and confidence through makeup and creating an experience that makes my clients feel like the best version of themselves.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Day 1: Midtown Vibes
We’d start the trip at Piedmont Park with a morning stroll, followed by brunch at The Flying Biscuit Café—their grits are a must! We could spend the afternoon exploring the Atlanta Botanical Garden, and for dinner, hit South City Kitchen for some upscale Southern food.
Day 2: Arts and Culture
A visit to The High Museum of Art to see some incredible exhibits, then head to Little Five Points, a funky neighborhood known for its unique shops and street art. For lunch, we’d grab something fun and casual at The Vortex. In the evening, we could catch a show at The Fox Theatre, one of Atlanta’s iconic venues.
Day 3: Foodie Day
We’d dive into Atlanta’s food scene, starting with breakfast at Buttermilk Kitchen. Then, we’d visit Ponce City Market for lunch and a walk on the BeltLine, where we could grab some craft drinks at New Realm Brewing. Dinner would be at Staplehouse, one of the best restaurants in the city.
Day 4: History and Civil Rights
We’d explore the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park, followed by a visit to the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. For lunch, we’d go to Mary Mac’s Tea Room for a true Southern dining experience. In the evening, a rooftop hangout at SkyLounge would give us beautiful views of the city.
Day 5: Shopping and Drinks
A trip to Lenox Square or Phipps Plaza for high-end shopping would be fun, followed by lunch at True Food Kitchen. In the evening, we could check out the rooftop bar at Hotel Clermont for a laid-back vibe and great drinks.
Day 6: Adventure and Nature
We’d spend the day hiking Stone Mountain for some outdoor adventure and incredible views. Afterward, we could relax with a wine tasting at City Winery Atlanta before a laid-back dinner at Krog Street Market.
Day 7: Relax and Unwind
We’d cap off the trip with a relaxing spa day at Jeju Sauna, a Korean spa in Duluth. Then, a chill final dinner at Canoe, located along the Chattahoochee River, to enjoy a peaceful end to an amazing week.
Each day blends the energy of Atlanta’s culture, food, and nature to make it a trip to remember!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would definitely give a shoutout to my family and close friends who have been my biggest supporters since day one. They’ve always believed in me and pushed me to go after my dreams, even when I doubted myself.
My clients deserve a lot of credit too—every smile and bit of feedback from them has been a constant source of motivation. Lastly, I’d give a nod to the beauty industry mentors I’ve learned from over the years, who have shown me what’s possible in this field. They’ve all played a huge role in shaping Da’ Artistry and where it stands today.
