We had the good fortune of connecting with da i.ZZ & Mariposa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi da i.ZZ, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
-As da i.ZZ, I wholeheartedly believe that 30 Minute Podcast (30MP) helps the global community. As an approximate half hour podcast covering an array of topics in the realm of culture/society, 30MP brings engaging topics to our global listening audience. We spotlight individuals, businesses, and entities that spark curiosity and conversation. Our episodes feature guests willing to speak on a myriad of topics and connect our global listeners as a podcast community, known as Da 30s. We provide a platform for the world to connect and learn from and about each other. 30 MP focuses on intellectually stimulating, globally sharing, and wholeheartedly providing information with the hope of enlightenment.
– As Mariposa, I believe we help the community by expounding society and culture topics into broader perspectives and parameters. Da 30s have expressed to us how the show provokes their thoughts, confirms emotions and even sparks action for change in some cases. 30MP has reached global status and is currently heard in 25 countries. We enjoy providing lively discussions and atypical solutions while engaging with listeners around the world.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Our Work as Creatives: The 30MP brand, through da i.ZZ lens, as representation of two visions in one brand. In the true ATL spirit, I would want 30MP to be a podcast that an OutKast fan would listen to — thought provoking, with THAT edge. For me, da iZZ, represents me as a poet, author, artist manager, with a splash of 1990s Arsenio Hall vibe. As a creatives’ management professional, I want to use the art of podcasting to highlight numerous talents that may not be spotlighted in mainstream media.
Podcasting, as culture work, is still new territory and 30 MP is continuing to grow as a brand and global product. The past year has been a real learning experience in Business, Podcast technology, and Entertainment brand. It was WORK, but I appreciate the lessons and skills that have come along with being a podcast professional.
Mariposa: Part of our uniqueness in the podcast arena is the pairing of a creative and an analytical personality as co-hosts. Our energy on-air plus edgy show concept resonates with listeners, in various demographic groups. Although we both had previous experience as entrepreneurs, the foray into podcasting in 2020 was new. We are fostering skills that yield benefits daily to the 30MP brand. Our future is bright! And the business lessons learned are priceless.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As an ATLien, da i.ZZ has an extensive list of fun, interesting people, places and things to check out in Atlanta. Although it is newly created (2021), you can check out Atlanta locales of interest, as well as attractions in other cities and countries, on his travel IG: the_noir_traveler.
Here’s an example of a Thursday with da i.ZZ:
Wake up and take a morning walk through the Atlanta Botanical Gardens to start your day. Then off to morning breakfast at Atlanta Breakfast Club, tell Chef that 30MP sent you. A midday visit to the Apex Museum followed by early an afternoon ride on the Ferris wheel. If you are still in the artistic space, check out either, MODA or Atlanta Contemporary for a smaller art venue experience. After a rest, you can have dinner, make reservations, at Atlas- located in the St. Regis Buckhead. Then maybe a nice night cap at Red Phone Booth.
Mariposa: There’s so much to explore in the city! A fun day with Mariposa might include: a morning pilates workout and spa time at Exhale – with Svetlana. Clean eating lunch at Rumi’s Kitchen or one of the Westside Provisions restaurants. Let’s get in a bit of shopping on Chattahoochee Ave. while there. We could also take a stroll on one of the local greenways to enjoy parts of nature often overlooked. Then later that evening let’s splurge on a nice dinner experience at Gun Show. To close out the night we could go to Slush in Edgewood and grab a craft cocktail like the ‘Pucker Up’ or ‘Southern Belle’.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
-As da i.ZZ,
Deserving of credit and recognition in this story, I want to start with my parents. Giving deep appreciation to my parents. Besides my parents, I want to thank a few individuals/entities in my tribe. The Trifecta, those two brothers keep me grounded and moving forward. The Porch Crew, a group of creatives and small business owners. My #1 client, black@lanta, and the entire DeCA Management division of S!F Media & Management. I want to thank all of our listeners, guests, and Mariposa for building the 30 MP brand with me.
Special thanks to AJ, ChanDeezy, CeeCee, the WoW, and again, to my co-host.
Mariposa:
There are several books I cherish but one that stands out as integral for my journey is: “How to Be a Nonconformist” by Elissa Jane King, which I read as a child. It empowered me to embrace the multi-faceted nature of my thoughts and for that early lesson, I am grateful. Many thanks to 30MP listeners, guests and supporters. To my co-host da i.ZZ, I appreciate your dedication to the 30MP brand. In addition to my family, many friends have supported and encouraged me including my sorority sister friend circle and the SWATS Certified Crew.
I would especially like to thank: K-Dog, Ivy, E., Khris, and da i.ZZ, for your friendship. And T.M., for that royal treatment.
