Meet Craig Dupuis | Senior Principal/Founder of DDG Architecture

We had the good fortune of connecting with Craig Dupuis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Craig, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I had reached a level in my career where I felt a great deal of self-confidence and had developed a great support group of colleagues and peers. I also had always dreamed of the opportunity to mentor and lead younger architects and support them in their aspirations to practice architecture.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started Dupuis Design Group, LLC (DDG), as a Georgia-based, small enterprise, architecture firm dedicated to three tenets: Innovation, Transformation, and Expectation.
We believe the application of technology, cost-effectiveness, and a desire for authentic client relationships are what makes us different.
At DDG, we understand the ever-changing landscape of the architecture, engineering, and construction industries. We see trends such as rising projects costs through inflation, extended lead times, higher design fees, reductions in quality control measures, and inadequate planning for client initiatives and sustainability objectives all around us. We believe you need a team that is committed to understanding your changing needs and that can provide quality professional services without exorbitant overhead.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a fun question, let me see……

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
That’s easy – my wife. She is the largest part of my story. She and I married and struggled for years during recessions, layoffs, etc. She listened as I told her about horrible managers, archaic management styles, or about my own failures. She pushed me to study hard for the Architecture Registration Exams (all 7 of them!) and get licensed.
Additionally, there have been some great architects that I have truly enjoyed learning from – Greg Blaylock and Richard Kemp at RJTR, Brin Albers at Corgan, Mark Porter at Prime, and many others.
