We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Courtney, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite quote is ” I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers.” by Claude Monet.

This quote speaks truth in my life because it is the first thing I decided to paint. I love the endless interpretation of a floral piece. The colors , the shapes of the petals , and the wide variety of species is endless. All of my floral pieces are very different and you will not find one that is not unique in its own pretty way.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an Impressionist artist that enjoys all the pretty things in life. Florals, Landscapes , Seascapes are my favorite subject matter to paint and I love to add texture with palette knife to really bring the painting to life.

I have always been an artist throughout all my stages of life, but I decided to pursue my career seriously during the pandemic. I wanted to help the world and I thought my art could do that if I could sell a few pieces , make a donation to a good cause that would be good enough for me. Little did I know it would start my trajectory into my art career.

I create to make others happy, there is no better feeling than having someone purchase a painting I created because it bring them joy in their life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I was born and raised in Atlanta so having to choose just one area is hard because there is so much fun to be had all over the little cities in and around the perimeter.

I would start in Decatur because to me it is the coolest with the most variety . We would start at the gallery I run called Wild Oats & Billy Goats , it is right on the square and it showcases over 150 local artists. Everything from paintings, pottery, prints, jewelry, textiles , and glass Wild Oats & Billy Goats is a beautiful showcase of all local talent. From there we would visit Folk Art for lunch and a Bloody Mary and continue to go shopping all of the other wonderful boutiques around the Square.

Dinner we would have to go have Sushi at O-Ku in Midtown, Atlanta. It is a chic , modern sushi spot with a roof top deck that overlooks the city. Sushi with a view and a fancy cocktail is the perfect way to end an eventful day dining and shopping with me!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to a wonderful mentor and friend, Weatherly Morgan . Without her taking a chance on a young budding artist dying to accomplish more I would not be where I am today professionally.
