We had the good fortune of connecting with Coriyanna Osbourne-Willis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Coriyanna, is there something you believe many others might not?
One piece of conventional advice that I disagree with is: don’t burn bridges. Most established creators suggest to hold on to every relationship you build on your content journey, but what if it no longer aligns with your values? What if it isn’t growing in the same direction as your brand? Cutting ties can be necessary for self-development and protecting your well-being. This doesn’t mean end on bad terms but assess what you accept in your space and move accordingly. As a 23-year old, first generation hbcu grad, I am learning the importance of setting boundaries. Growth forces you to leave behind old habits, environments, and people that no longer serve you or the person you are becoming. In life, some bridges are meant to be crossed and others burned. Both lead to a brighter future.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My journey as a content creator is a testament to the unexpected turns life can take. From being a theater kid to working as a full time software engineer, my story is one of diverging paths leading to the discovery of my true passion. Growing up, I felt called to be a creative, but societal expectations led me down a more financially stable route– tech. Shortly after starting my career, I realized that something was missing– the creative outlet that once fueled my soul.

In the beginning of 2024, I told God I wanted to be a content creator. Since then, I’ve embarked on a journey of consistent posting, navigating the highs and lows of beginner content creation. Facing the uphill battle of low engagement and external judgment, I learned a valuable lesson: to create for the love of it, not for the validation of others. This mindset not only brought a newfound sense of fulfillment, but also paved the way for meaningful connections, paid collaborations, and brand trips. Overall, my story is one of embracing the unexpected, and pursuing passions unapologetically. My content embodies this, inspiring others to chase their dreams, romanticize their life, and create the life that their younger self dreamed of.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Honestly there is so much to do in Atlanta and if my bestie were visiting, I’d first take her to brunch at Rosie’s. Then, head over to Ponce City Market for a blend of shopping, dining, and entertainment. We’re both into hot girl walks so we’d stroll along the Beltline enjoying the vibrant atmosphere. For some good retail therapy, we’d venture to Perimeter Mall before heading down 285 to The Battery. There, we’d grab a Cat 5 at Fat Tuesday’s and then ride the bull at PBR Bar. Atlanta truly is the city that never sleeps, so I’d keep her entertained– except when we’re stuck in traffic, of course.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God. There has been so many times in my life where I felt lost, doubted myself, and wanted to give up; but the way God continues to show up every time, all of my praise belongs to Him. Also shout out to my great aunt, who navigated single motherhood with grace and resilience while raising me and my sister. I think she did pretty well.

I’d also like to thank my village at my alma mater, Cicely L. Tyson School of Performing and Fine Arts. I still call my old principal and teachers– they have truly been my rock through thick and thin. And where would I be without the number 1 HBCU, Black girl heaven, Spelman College. It was here that I learned to embrace my identity and confidently take up space. I am so grateful to be on this path that God has set out for me, and I know my village will always have my back– standing 10 toes every step of the way.
