We had the good fortune of connecting with Cimone Holt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cimone, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business came from a necessity. A few years ago, I hit a rough patch related to my mental health. I experienced a very intense burnout that led to severe depression. I came very close to losing everything, and I felt isolated. I often describe it as being in a dark place. There was no light. When the smoke cleared, I put in the work to take care of myself, and I bounced back. That’s when the idea came to me. I knew there was a gap that I wanted to fill. I wanted to create a community and access to resources that I needed but couldn’t find. In a world that expects so much from Black women, especially Black mothers, I wanted to ensure that we have what we need to thrive.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work is deeply rooted in a mission I’m incredibly proud of: changing the narrative around mental health in the Black community. For too long, conversations about mental well-being have been shrouded in silence, stigma, or a lack of culturally relevant understanding within our community. My purpose is to dismantle those barriers, create safe spaces, and facilitate open dialogue that leads to healing and growth.

What truly sets me apart is the authenticity of my journey and the intentionality of my approach. I don’t just speak about mental health; I live it, I’ve navigated it, and I understand the unique nuances that impact the black community. My experience allows me to connect with people on a deeper level, building trust and fostering an environment where vulnerability is welcomed, not judged.

What I want the world to know about my brand and my story is this: We may not always be able to control how we’re perceived, but we can absolutely work to shift the narrative. As humans, we are complex, multifaceted, and deserving of care that genuinely connects with our culture, our experiences, and our spirit. We deserve to feel, to heal, and to thrive without shame or judgment.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my best childhood friends lives in California, and if she came to visit, the first thing we’d do is go down to Buchkhead for a SoulCycle class. I’ve been to a few spin studios, but they have the BEST instructors. I like to do the usual things. I love a good brunch and an even better mimosa. Osha Thai Sushi Gallery has a fantastic atmosphere, and the food is great. If the outdoors is more your thing, the Roswell River Walk Trail has great views, and you could check out the Bamboo Forest for a few good photo ops.

I’m a simple girl. Good food, good drink, and good people are all I need to have a good time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The people who deserve a shoutout for their key role in my journey are Michelle and Dahiana, my two very best friends. They have been with me through it all. They have laughed with me, cried with me, and held me up when I couldn’t stand on my own. It is a true testament to the power of community, friendship, and sisterhood. The value of the ability to be candid and brutally honest without the fear of being judged is immeasurable. Without their support, I may have reached my goal, but it would have certainly taken me longer and been a lot less enjoyable. They are truly the people who know me best. I’m so grateful for them.
