Meet Chrishuara Haynie | The Dot Connector

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chrishuara Haynie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chrishuara, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
One of the most significant actions I’ve taken to positively influence my child’s life was to pursue higher education during her childhood. As a single mother who started this journey in my teens, I embraced the responsibilities of adulthood early on. I was determined to provide her with the best possible life, never ceasing to chase my own aspirations. Despite the challenges and moments when surrender seemed like an option, I persevered, placing faith at the forefront and demonstrating that when life presents obstacles, one can always create something sweet and refreshing from them. This philosophy has inspired my daughter to choose the path of higher education for herself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My professional journey is distinguished by a diverse array of talents and qualities. As a multifaceted artist, I’ve channeled my creativity into songwriting, filmmaking, and authoring books. Presently, I’m celebrating the publication of my third book, a children’s story titled “Nylah and Tete’s Adventures,” inspired by my great-nieces.
After earning a degree in public relations, I embarked on a career that spanned both corporate roles and community service. Despite achieving expertise in the corporate realm, my experiences in the industry left me feeling underappreciated and overlooked, prompting a shift in focus.
With over two decades of experience in corporate America, I currently hold a position within a hospitality firm. In my personal time, I find fulfillment in quietly supporting others and serving as a steadfast support in my community.
Acting remains my lifelong passion, a craft I’ve honed since childhood. I’m now channeling this passion into creating my own play, having recently completed casting for an upcoming film titled “The Will To Win.”
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with renowned figures in the music industry. This includes icons such as Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube, with whom I maintain contact during events like the Big 3. My professional journey has also intersected with influential artists like 50 Cent, Loon, and Greg Street, as well as prestigious labels including Def Jam, Arista, and Capitol Records.
I’ve worked alongside talents such as Key Glock and the late Young Dolph. My connections extend to Hollyhood Bay Bay, Swisha House, and Bun B, among others. Collaborations with Bonefide, Jody Breeze, and Kevin Gates have further enriched my experience, illustrating the extensive network of artists that have shaped my career path.
Additionally, my professional portfolio is graced by collaborations with esteemed women such as Tink, DJ Duffy, Lala Anthony, Dede McGuire, and Vivica Fox, each of whom has contributed to the breadth of my experience.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a native of Dallas, Texas, Atlanta feels like a second home to me. Being creative and having an appreciation for the unique and quirky, I believe my friend would enjoy it too. Our first stop would be my friend’s restaurant, Chef Anderson’s Atlanta Breakfast Club, followed by a visit to the Coca-Cola Museum. Afterwards, we’d treat ourselves to a manicure at Posh Nail Bar, and then I’d indulge in some delicious treats at my favorite 24-hour donut shop, Sublime. We’d relax for a while before heading out to dinner, and before dining, I’d make sure to drop by my friend’s place, Frostology ATL.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My motivation and unwavering support are rooted in my family—my parents and my daughter. It’s my deepest wish to ensure they experience the finest life has to offer. My parents have sacrificed much for my siblings and me, and I, being the youngest, recognize that with more opportunities or knowledge, our lives might have unfolded differently. My friends, who offer genuine support, have consistently stood by me, providing a listening ear and a comforting shoulder when needed. My grandmother, though no longer with us, left a lasting impression; she instilled in me the belief that I was destined for greatness and encouraged me to relentlessly pursue my passions. She often spoke of her own unfulfilled aspirations, reminding me to seize every opportunity that comes my way.
I’d like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my mentor, Tracey Edmonds, for allowing me the chance to observe and learn during the College Hill Langston University season. As a student at the time, with friends participating in the show, it was an invaluable first step into production, albeit in a minor crew role. When I reached out to Tracey to be my mentor, her affirmative response was incredibly kind. Although we haven’t collaborated since, our continued communication is something I cherish. My aspiration is to work alongside her again, whether in acting or production, as she possesses a truly kind spirit. Sharing the Aquarius sign, we resonate on a level of mutual understanding and goodwill.
