Meet chelsy cannon: Professional Makeup Artist and Esthetician

We had the good fortune of connecting with chelsy cannon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi chelsy, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The biggest factor in the success that I’ve had has been tied directly to my Faith. My relationship with God has been the key to directing my decisions and risks I’ve taken to pursue my passion and start my own business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Growing up, I always had an interest in art, music, makeup..Basically “All things Beauty! While obtaining my Bachelor’s degree in Interpersonal and Public Communications, It was nurturing my natural ability to connect with people from all facets of life. This foundation has served me well throughout the years in various career roles and establishing a loyal clientele for my business. The decision to start my own business and doing the groundwork that it takes to get started was scary but absolutely worth it. In October of 2016, I decided to go back to school and obtain my state license as an Esthetician, this has opened doors for me and expanded my skill set and expertise in the industry. My close-knit family has always fostered a mentality of “you can do anything”. I was always encouraged to work hard, treat everyone right, and be a leader. Having this empowering reenforcement deeply impacted my confidence and courage to dream of pursuing a bright future. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned was to always approach each new opportunity with the attitude of practice and preparation. The goal is to win and grow in each space while always preparing for what’s next. The Truebeauty Experience brand was created out of my desire to help people realize their “TrueBeauty”. My artistry style is clean, fresh, and flawlessly enhancing my client’s natural features. One of the impactful and driving compliments I receive is when they express that they look like the best versions of themselves. Ultimately, that’s what it is all about!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Music has always been the common denominator with my friends so I would definitely include live music with an evening of dining at a restaurant or lounge that had a great view or beautiful scenery. I Love the Greenhouse or Eclipse De Luna where the atmosphere is light and fun. The smells and sounds ignite a sense of excitement! Atlanta offers a great variety of music, art, and culture. There great places spanning from the Botanical Gardens to Little 5 Points. There’s so much fun and adventure in between!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Throughout my journey, I am fortunate to have a community of family, friends, and also former and current colleagues that have helped me in so many ways in encouraging me to keep moving forward in pursuing my passion. No man/woman is an island, it truly takes a village.
