We had the good fortune of connecting with Chef B. Viictoria and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chef B., any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
In 2017 my sister was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called ChondroSarcoma – a category of tumors of bone and soft tissue. A very rare form at times not curable by radiation. My sister and I share an 8 year age gap, but our bond is magnetic. I found out about this diagnosis right before Christmas in 2017. I lost my job due to a fire in the building & the news of my sister followed right after, devastated to say the least. I wanted to know how I could help, what dietary aid could I possibly provide to assist with my sisters recovery. We adopted the Alkaline diet by Dr.Sebi & the rest was inevitable. I transformed my mindset, falling in love with food all over again, exploring the vegan alternatives to bring health and wellness back into my families life. Chef Shantelle Gary @bevegan was definitely an aid to my growth. I researched vegan culinary programs, joined @chef_marlo at the The Logan Wilkes Foundation in Atlanta to increase my knowledge about nutrition. I was persistent, I wanted to help others who needed assistance with eating while being aware of dietary restrictions or other ailments. My sister now, tumor free has taught me a lot about myself and care for the body. I began on a new journey to New York City in 2019 , where I would gain certification in Nutrition & Wellness and go on to meet some very talented chefs and continue my journey in the kitchen. I know to keep going because I can see the identity my business holds. The options are infinite but the option to ..”give up”, does not sit at the same table with my thoughts. I am adamant on building my brand because I know it helps my community. In the eye of entrepreneurship, there are many times when emotionally you may have a down ward spiral of thoughts, things get hard, taking a break becomes more tangible than actually being consistent. What motivates me to keep going is the reality that I am building on my forever, I am educating my people, so you see giving up is not an option. My life has been molded indefinitely, facing my hurdles in multiples, though I am able to celebrate by way of sharing my story.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My passion has turned into my profit. I wouldn’t consider what I do to be work, it’s my therapy. Cooking settles my anxiety and experimenting with flavors is my utopia. I’ve learned valuable lessons in attracting the right energy. I used to want to excel so bad in Management Retail. Just before the pandemic in March, I was terminated from my job. Evil conspiracy stuff, I had never been fired from a job ever, so I was “in shock & awe”, lol. But then it was like Blessing on Blessings, the government rolled out the pandemic relief aid, I was receiving unemployment and the assistance. My best friend encouraged me to get a business license, make my hobby my actual business. I just enjoyed feeding people, but then the idea continued to blossom. I had been cooking forever, having an opportunity to cook for television sets, FX, Disney, companies in New York, private dinner parties, but then making a business made things much more legitimate . I was able to invest in myself and sharing by way of social media has been even more impactful on my brand. Once I returned from New York, I knew I needed help with my Mental State & I want the world to know, self-care is the priority for prosperity! I want people to know that there is more power than doubt.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I got 3 besties and they live here so hmmm, let’s say we just had a little stay cation. I’m so stingy with restaurants because I don’t want them going anywhere without me lol, I know childish. I’d say, The Big Ketch in Buckhead, & Life Bistro ATL!! I would eat there religiously if I could . I’m not to much of a drinker, the most fun I’ve ever had here in Georgia has probably been at the Chateau Elan in Braselton, if you haven’t been go!
