Meet Chakieya Dottery | Graphic Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chakieya Dottery and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chakieya, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my own business because of my passion for graphic design. I would design for fun in high school and then as a young adult, I started designing for birthday parties. Not only did I enjoy it, but I saw the monetary benefits and it sparked me to want to pursue this further. I then started to Network and collaborate with event planners and now my business is doing more than I could imagine.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is a craft where I create visual content for others. I provide services that include print and digital designs, that can be used for an array of projects. My creativity is what sets me apart from other designers. I like to get a clear understanding of what the client wants then I put a creative spin on their idea. I am proud to say that I don’t copy or imitate other designers. I like to take my time to come up with a design that’s specific for their need. I’m so excited about how much my creativity has grown over the years, and I’m proud of how my clients love what I do and continue to return for my services. It was not easy to get to where I am at today. There were many mistakes made and many times I could have given up, but I had to step out of my comfort zone. I had to be open to learn/collaborate from those in this industry in order to make progress. I had to understand that mistakes may happen but learning from them was the reward. My brand is effective, inviting, and creative. I want the world to know that my brand stands out over all others because of the time and love I put into each design.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I moved to Georgia this passed January and I have experience some amazing places. If my best friend came to visit, we would go to scrumdiddlyumptious to have brunch and then spend our after afternoon at the aquarium or or even the Coca-Cola museum to explore the history of the drink and more. For night life we go to a nice chill hookah bar with amazing food to end the night.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God, my family, network of event planners, and loyal clientele.

These group of people have helped me gain the success I have today from there motivation, loyalty, and continuous support. I wouldn’t be where I am without God’s continuous favor over my life so I am always grateful for all the blessings he has given me.
