We had the good fortune of connecting with Celeste Buck and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Celeste, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk-taking, for me, has been an essential element of both my personal growth and career development. I perceive risk as a calculated decision, but also, to an extend, a GIANT leap into the unknown.
In my life and career, taking risks has been pivotal. I’ve moved from multiple states to pursue different career paths without knowing anyone which was a significant gamble. Despite the uncertainty, these decisions led to immense personal satisfaction and professional growth. It taught me resilience and adaptability, as I navigated challenges and seized new opportunities.
Tito & Stitch started because a year ago, one day in August, I knew I had to have some courage and just start my little shop. Its been an incredible journey so far (obviously with its peaks and valleys) Because each risk taken, whether successful or not, provides valuable lessons and experiences, and will shape my approach to future challenges.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about.
At Tito & Stitch, I create custom embroidery pet portraits that capture the unique personalities and essence of pets. What sets my work apart is the meticulous attention to detail and the personal touch I bring to each piece. Every stitch is a testament to my love for animals and my commitment to crafting a meaningful keepsake for pet owners. I’m most proud of the joy and connection my art brings to clients, especially when they see their beloved pets immortalized in embroidery. It’s incredibly rewarding to hear stories of how these portraits have touched their lives.
How did you get to where you are today professionally? Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
My journey to where I am today with Tito & Stitch has been a blend of passion, perseverance, and continuous learning. It wasn’t easy—starting a small business comes with its set of challenges, from finding the right materials to building an online presence. The initial stages were particularly tough, as I had to balance my artistic work with understanding the business aspects. Overcoming these challenges involved a lot of trial and error, seeking feedback, and adapting my strategies. Joining online forums and communities for artists and small business owners provided invaluable support and insights.
What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of patience and resilience. Success doesn’t come overnight, and it’s crucial to stay committed even when things are slow. I’ve also learned the value of connecting with my customers—listening to their stories and understanding their needs has helped me improve my craft and build lasting relationships. Additionally, embracing technology and social media has been vital in reaching a wider audience and showcasing my work.
What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I want the world to know that Tito & Stitch is built on a foundation of love for pets and a dedication to the art of embroidery. My brand represents not just a business, but a passion project that brings joy and keeps memories alive through personalized art. Every piece I create is infused with care and attention, aiming to reflect the unique bond between pets and their owners. My story is one of following a dream, embracing challenges, and continuously striving to create art that resonates on a personal level. Through Tito & Stitch, I hope to spread happiness and celebrate the special place pets hold in our hearts.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
ATL has so much to offer, its hard to pack everything in only a week! First day, I would have to take them to The Flying Biscuit Cafe, visit The Georgia Aquarium, and Explore Piedmont Park/ Atlanta Botanical Garden. Second day, We’d hit up Folk Art for breakfast, visit the High Museum of Art, Enjoy the Krog Street Market and see a show at the Tabernacle (one of my favorite venues!) Day three, West Egg Cafe, hop on the Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail for a bike ride, maybe grab a hotdog at The Varsity and end the night hanging at SkyLounge for a rooftop view of the city. Four, go to a Braves game and hang out at the Battery! and then the last day, stroll through Inman Park, and have a farewell meal at Superica 🙂
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom, Connie, has been a cornerstone in my life story, offering unwavering support and invaluable guidance. Her resilience and wisdom have shaped my character and ambitions. From nurturing my curiosity as a child to encouraging my career pursuits, her influence has been profound. She taught me the importance of hard work, kindness, and perseverance. Every achievement I have made is a testament to her sacrifices and dedication. Giving her credit is essential, as her love and belief in me have been the driving force behind my success. My mom’s impact on my life is immeasurable and deeply cherished
