We had the good fortune of connecting with Celena Camp and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Celena, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking is absolutely necessary if you want to grow within your brand, Better yet, your life. If you don’t take risks- if you don’t get out of your comfort zone… there are no new lessons to be learned. You stay stagnant and continue to live your life out of fear.
The most major moments within my life or my business have come from taking risks (and failing).
I have learned some of the most valuable lessons from my mistakes. But Ive also surprised myself.

I took a huge risk when I decided to quit my 9-5 job and become a full time entrepreneur. With almost 10k of credit card debt and absolutly no savings and no plan whatsoever. I took a risk. I remember the talk with my boyfriend at the time, as he encouraged me to make the leap “all you need to do is make one piece of furniture a week Celena”
He helped me put it into perspective and I quit my job the very next day. Now I say that like it was easy but trust me there has been MANY MANY tears, arguments, and mental breakdowns. Days where I thought It was just to much. But looking back on it today it excites me to see how far Ive come. I managed to take the leap and make it work, I not only kept a steady income and grew my business but I managed to pay off the 10 thousand dollars worth of debt I had carried around for 5 years In 7 months. AGAIN. Not easy. But absolutely worth it.

The Risk is terrifying. Thats why its called a risk… But if you don’t take it you cannot expect to get anywhere. Take it, Fail. Fail again if you must but don’t ever give up. Learn and grow from each risk and mistake with grace.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art Is in embellishing peoples homes. I specialize in Accent walls. Transforming the look of a room with one wall.

Now when I say accent wall were not just talking some paint and a stencil.,, I incorporate wood to create a beautiful mosaic masterpiece. I also create custom builtin cabinetry along with an elegant design to bring functionality and purpose.

Im passionate about what I do because as a female I know how important it is to have a beautiful home that makes you happy. One that is elegant AND organized. A home you and your family would like to spend most of your time in.
I struggled constantly with trying to decorate my home and not knowing where to start, I knew that my walls were the foundation and needed to be addressed but sometimes just having pictures on the wall didn’t change the energy of the space like i was hoping it would. I then got creative with accent walls and realized how much it changed the look and feel of a room.

I think being a woman in an industry such as this sets me apart because I not only am a contractor for building, but I have the design eye that might relate more to woman and what they are looking for in their home.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Honestly I wouldn’t have any idea where to start! I need to go on an adventure around the city myself!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am so full of gratitude for the abundance of love and support I have received along this journey. Im trying to think of specific situations and its almost impossible there are so many.

Family
My mother-for every single hand tool she has ever bought me, and folks its ALOT. My Entire shop began with her and the tools she gifted.
My father- for the words of encouragement that night at chilis when I told him I didn’t want to work for someone else anymore.
My Husband- for putting it all into perspective and encouraging me to quit my 9-5 job. And the 85 billion other motivational talks we had on the way to bike races, at night lying in bed or over dinner.
My Sister- My sanity. My best friend. My go to for when it all felt like it was falling apart. The shoulder to cry on and the hug I needed. Sometimes silence and sometimes the words I needed to hear, at the exact time I needed to hear them.

Books
Ive read a ton of self help books lately but what started it all was ” You are a badass” by Jen Sincero
Hands down the book that changed my life.
