We had the good fortune of connecting with Cecelia Ross and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cecelia, what’s one piece of advice that you disagree with?
I don’t agree with the conventional advice that you can build and operate your business by yourself. You absolutely need the help of others, you can’t do it ALL and you don’t know it ALL.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As a Social Worker, I’m always trying to help others and that is exactly why Ms. Cece’s Creations was developed! It was developed in two parts. Over 10 years ago, I started making products for my personal use because most store-bought items either made me itch or sneeze. I did research into lots of the chemicals used and found they not only didn’t agree with my body but also could cause more harm than good over time. A few years later, I noticed the amount of people around me who were suffering with pain, including my parents, The amount of pain medication that is consumed and the potential harmful side effects that exists as a result led me to create the line of pain oils to help people before the pain gets too bad. Ms. Cece’s Creations has since developed into a business that not only sells natural handmade products but also helps guide people who are starting their journey to utilizing less harmful chemicals.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely get tickets to an evening Cardinals game before my friend arrives. Once here, we would plan our week as follows: We would be sure to visit the following places: Black History Museum, Delmar Loop, Urban Chestnut Brewery (the best fries are here), Forest Park, St. Louis Zoo, Botanical Gardens, Helium Comedy Club
When I’m not cooking, we would make time to eat at: Cathy’s Kitchen, O’Henry’s, Vincenzo’s, Big Jay’s & Skeeters Frozen Custard
Since my friend is here during baseball season, it won’t be hard to find a good carnival somewhere in town
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
