Meet Bruce Billingy: A&R Coordinator/Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bruce Billingy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bruce, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Being born and raised in Bronx, NY, and then moving to Decatur Ga as a teenager, shaped me musically. I had a opportunity to listening to both sides of the spectrum, east coast rap and southern rap so it shaped my mind musically. I had a opportunity to listening to both sides of the spectrum, east coast rap and southern rap so it shaped my mind musically. I also was in choir both in NY and GA so I always had a passion for music growing up.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m one of the few A&R’s in recent years that can actually produce music. A&R’s produce records by putting producers/songwriters in the room with artist, But to actually be able to pull out a MPC, or a keyboard, create a melody, create a beat, its surreal. Ive spent years hearing and being around great producers and seeing the process but to actually be apart of the producer community is the coolest. I thank everyone that gives me that opportunity to collab and I’m excited for these placements to drop. The music industry isn’t easy, its a constant grind. Ive dedicated alot of hrs and years, almost 10 trying to find myself in this industry. Ive loss friends, lost it all, and was able to recreate my narrative, it’s such a blessing. Never give up on your dreams, no matter what the circumstances. Life is constantly up and down of energy and emotion, so success also can be granted and taken away. Its up to you to learn how to overcome when those issues as they come but have faith in yourself even when it looks grim. I keep that emotion I had working in a security booth for 12 hrs a day with me to keep me in check. The fact that I’m literally able to live my dream keeps me grounded, Being a father keeps me responsible, Life is structure, I’m learning that.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Yard House definitely, most consistent place weekly I eat these days. Their happy hour is where its at, Don’t say I didn’t tell you lol. Stone Mountain Pizza Cafe- Best pizza in the city to me and i’m a new yorker. Any Tanger Oulet can work too shopping wise, I’m pretty simple.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
