We had the good fortune of connecting with Briana Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Briana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve never liked working for anyone. Having the same day to day schedule was a nightmare to me, and made me feel like I was locked down. I remember the day I decided not to go back to school at UWG. I also remember the day I decided to quit my 9-5 job. I stepped out on faith, and put my God given gifts to work. When I think about where I am now compared to where I was when I first started my business, all I can do is smile. I wouldn’t change a thing. I’ve learned so much, and am very happy that I never gave up. I’ve come in contact and networked with so many amazing people. I have a close relationship with God, which is so important to have. I also have a great support system with me. I knew that starting my own business and working for myself would change my life. To Anyone looking to start their business and become an entrepreneur , never give up, and never stop. Keep going, and keep pushing.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
SlayedByBree is a Business that offers makeup and hairstyling services such as Locs services, braids, weaves, coloring services, and silk presses.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family. I have a huge support system. From my fiancé, to my mother, grandmother, sisters, in laws, church family, family members, to best friends, and instructors. I love them all , and are very thankful for them.
