We had the good fortune of connecting with Bri Kids and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bri, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
What makes me happy? This is a loaded question but a very simple one to answer. Over the last few years, I have come to know the worth that I provide to myself and to those around me. I have begun to find happiness and joy in the everyday mundane tasks in life. I find happiness in the sunshine, my friends and family, and my work. Being happy is something I longed for a very long time, it wasn’t until I learned how to control those negative thoughts and emotions that run through all of our minds that I have found true happiness. It has been no easy task but trying to change the way I think about life and my perspective on life has changed my world. You receive the energy that you put into the universe, make it positive and watch your life change for the better.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Today I work for Berkshire Hathaway as a Marketing Graphic Designer. I am part of a team of designers placed in offices all over Georgia. I work directly with the Vice President of Marketing, Brokers, Realtors, and Staff designing Marketing Materials, Gif Animations, Listing Presentations, Video Animations, Direct Mail Advertising, Magazine Publications, and Custom Websites all while maintaining BHHS brand consistency. I started out working in a small office in Smyrna and over the last 17 months, I have worked hard to prove myself, as I am one of the youngest designers on the team. Through hard work I slowly started to get the attention of the Vice President of Marketing and the Art Director of our Luxury Brand Team. I now work closely with those departments creating high-volume marketing materials and presentations for our customers. It has not been easy, there have been days that I wish I didn’t have to work, but I know at the end of the day this is what I love and it brings me fulfillment.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love this question! I love Atlanta, I recently had a friend who was visiting Atlanta for the first time, and showing him around was so fun for me. Some of my favorite lunch and dinner spots are Apres Diem, a delicious European spot, Bar taco for a more relaxed atmosphere but still very fun and hip. The best place in town for pizza is Veruni Napoli, Ponce City Market is an Atlanta staple. I love the indoor/outdoor shopping and food options. Atlanta has a few delicious coffee spots and if you’re in the mood for a spicy coffee I know a place for that too. 😉 Some of my favorite things to do in Atlanta are; the Beltline, walk, bike, or scoot down a paved walkway that runs throughout Atlanta featuring some amazing restaurants alongside it, including Hawkers (amazing Asian twist) and Pour taproom (they have over fifty types of beer that you can pour yourself). I’m also a sucker for The Atlanta Botanical Gardens, featuring a new exhibition every few months, you can get lost in the beautiful greenery and flowers surrounding you. If you visit the gardens in the winter, the light show at nighttime is breathtaking. I also love walking around the Atlanta History Center when I have visitors, The Swan House, a majestic 1920’s mansion in Buckhead has stunning architecture, gardens, and historically preserved interiors. If you are a history buff this place is your playground.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I absolutely owe all of my success to Jennie Allen, author of “Get Out of Your Head: Stopping the Spiral of Toxic Thoughts”. This book, along with yoga, healthy eating, and regular meditation completely changed my life and the way that I think and interact with those around me. There was a time in my life not too long ago where I was sad more days than not. I decided I needed to take control of my mental health and start bettering my mind. The words of Jennie Allen taught me that we are equipped with the tools to combat negative energy and negative thoughts from spiraling in our minds. The power of meditation and speaking your dreams and wishes into existence is powerful. I tell myself every day that I am happy, that I am loved, and that I am appreciated. My mind, like most of us, fires negative thoughts our way constantly. “I’m not good enough, she’s prettier than me, he’s better at his job than me…” When I started to negate those negative thoughts with positive ones you can see yourself becoming happier. The power that the mind has is absolutely incredible.
