We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandy Williamson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandy, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Our idea for Capture Thirteen in many ways fell into our laps! I had a wedding coming up and was looking for a second shooter, so I reached out to Alison. Alison came and helped me with the wedding and our workflow that day was seamless. It was as if we had always been shooting together. We left that evening jokingly saying we should always photograph weddings together! A few weeks later, we met at a local coffee shop and chatted about how good photographing our first wedding together went and began to discuss how we could become a wedding photography team. A few months later we had our first wedding booked as a photography team. From there, Capture Thirteen has grown into what it is today!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are Capture Thirteen Photography, the combined talents of photographers Alison and Brandy. We are natural light photographers based out of Northeast Georgia, serving our local community and beyond. Our services include bridal, engagement, wedding, family, and senior investments. We feel our team approach is one of the things that makes our couples experience with us unique. There is no lead or second shooter here. We are equals. Our creativity thrives as we’re working together whether it’s shooting the details of the day, helping our couples ease into posing, or documenting the moments. Our shared love for wedding photography is what brought us together but what keeps us together as a team, is our shared purpose. We feel our purpose is to invest in the lives of others… to tell their stories and to build relationships. We not only want to serve our couples, but we also want to get to know them. We consider it an honor to be invited into their lives and capture their memories. Our teamwork is what has gotten us to where we are today, that’s not to say it’s all been smooth sailing. As with any venture of owning and operating a business, there are going to be bumps in the road. There are constantly new things to learn and situations to adapt to. We’ve had to learn and recognize each other’s strengths and weaknesses and find our roles within Capture Thirteen, while also helping each other grow in our areas of weakness. Being a team and keeping that team mindset though is something we are proud of.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
You can’t come to North Georgia and not take in the beauty of the mountains! We would start the week off with a road trip to the mountains! Going on a few hikes to take in some of our favorite sites like the views from Mount Yonah, Preachers Rock, Fort Mountain, or Brasstown Bald. Along the way, we would have to make time to stop for a yummy treat from Jaemor Farms or the Amish Bread Store! A little rest and relaxation by a stream or maybe even tube down a river! Before hitting up some of our favorite mountain towns like Dahlonega, or Blue Ridge.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Brandy~ My husband Brad and my children! They are always supporting and encouraging me in my goals. Alison~ My mom and dad! They’ve always encouraged and nurtured my artistic talents. They bought me my very first camera and roll of film as a kid.
