We had the good fortune of connecting with Blake Yarbrough and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Blake, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think the most important factor is to be in tune with your audience. Understanding what is missing from the market you are targeting and delivering a good product has brought me early success. Whether creating content or designing a tshirt, I want to represent and appeal to the community that I am a part of.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Currently I am an Aircraft Support Mechanic for Delta Air Lines in Atlanta. I was born and raised in Atlanta and Delta has always been a company I admired and aspired to be a part of. Going on 2 years with the company and my plan is to retire with Delta, I love it. Secondly, I am very passionate about sneakers, sports, and the entire culture that is weaved between the two. I grew up loving sports and admiring many different athletes, my favorite baseball player being Ken Griffey Jr. As a kid, his energy, presence, style, or swag was infectious. This translated into my love for sneakers and eventually landed me a job for Finish Line where I worked as an Assistant Manager for 4 years. After leaving the company I decided to begin creating sneaker related content online between 2018-2019. Fast forward to today, I am still creating content and have started designing apparel under the name, Yarbros. A play off my last name, I’m designing shirts that appeal to and unite the Atlanta sports culture. I had no knowledge when creating my first shirt, just the idea. Luckily I’ve had good people to guide me along the way. I still have so much to learn but so far through trial and error I think I’ve found a good stride and looking to elevate in 2025. Ultimately, I want myself and my brand to represent Atlanta and to unify the community.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Buckhead so we have a lot of great options within walking distance. I think for coffee Brash or Le Bon Bosh is a great option, or if driving then East Pole is also very good. For food if I had to pick the most popular new spot in the area is Yeppa. It’s not brand new now but the crowd is always lively and I love the atmosphere. Espresso martinis are on point. I also love west midtown and East Atlanta. I never take anyone downtown unless it’s for a game because it just doesn’t have that true Atlanta vibe. Plenty of high end restaurants to choose from but I like to take friends to more ‘lowkey’ spots.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is a long list. I definitely owe a huge thank you to my parents. I grew up loving sports and sports culture which has shaped my outlook on both business and life. To my close friends that are equally part of my family. They’ve not only supported me through the highs and lows, but offered advice and encouragement whenever I needed it. Lastly but certainly not least, to the people that I’ve never met who support me online. They say some of your biggest supporters will be ‘strangers’ and I can definitely say that’s a fact. Thank you to everyone. The love has been felt and is reciprocated.
