We had the good fortune of connecting with Atila Carmona and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Atila, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Perseverance has been key in my acting journey. In this industry, facing rejection and uncertainty is inevitable, but I’ve learned that pushing through setbacks builds resilience and character. Every audition, whether successful or not, is a step toward honing my craft and preparing for the right opportunity. It also allows me to show what I can bring to the table. Sometimes, you don’t get the role you audition for, but a good performance can lead to casting directors remembering you for future roles. Staying motivated through challenges and constantly improving my skills has helped me grow as an actor. It’s my persistence, even during tough times, that fuels my progress and drives me to reach new heights in my career.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I stand out as an actor for several compelling reasons. My versatility allows me to tackle a diverse range of roles across various genres, including theater, film, and video games. This adaptability enables me to perform in both intense dramatic narratives and lighter, more comedic settings.

One of my distinguishing features is my multilingualism. As a native speaker of Catalan and Spanish, I can connect with a broad audience, and my proficiency in Italian and English further enhances my opportunities in international projects. This linguistic versatility enriches the authenticity of my performances and allows me to engage fully with different cultural contexts.

My strong theatrical background also sets me apart. I have undergone rigorous training at institutions like *Helena Munné Estudi de Teatre* and *Institut del Teatre*, as well as at HB Studio, where I studied under the impactful techniques of Uta Hagen. This comprehensive training has provided me with a deep understanding of classical acting techniques, informing my work in film where I strive to infuse my performances with a strong sense of character and emotional truth.

Collaboration is another defining characteristic of my approach to acting. I enjoy working closely with directors and fellow actors, as it reflects my commitment to the craft. Collaborating with respected figures like Helena Munné, Leyma López, and Marco Lavagnino has been invaluable in my artistic growth, reinforcing the importance of storytelling and creativity in my work.

Finally, my resilience and perseverance have been crucial throughout my journey in this competitive industry. Despite the challenges I’ve faced, I remain dedicated to my passion for acting. This unwavering commitment to my craft fuels my ambition and drives me to reach new heights in my career, making me a compelling performer with a bright future ahead.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As an actor, I wholeheartedly recommend experiencing Broadway. It’s an extraordinary celebration of storytelling and talent that transcends mere entertainment. The electrifying atmosphere of live theater creates a unique connection between the audience and the performers, making each show a memorable experience.

You’ll witness some of the best talent in the world, with a rich variety of narratives that range from heartwarming musicals to powerful dramas, often addressing important social issues. The stunning sets and costumes transport you to different worlds, immersing you in contemporary culture.

What truly enhances the magic of Broadway is sharing the experience with others. The communal bond formed through laughter and tears adds depth to each performance.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Helena Munné has been instrumental in my acting journey, serving as the best acting teacher I’ve ever had. As the director of Helena Munné Estudi de Teatre in Barcelona, she provided me with rigorous training that laid the groundwork for my professional career. Thanks to her guidance, I was able to gain entrance into the prestigious Institut del Teatre, where I further developed my skills in text analysis, character development, and stage performance.

Helena’s impact extends well beyond the classroom; her dedication to her students is unparalleled. Even now, she continues to coach me when I book new roles, offering invaluable insights and support that help me navigate the challenges of each project. Her experience working with international theater icons, such as Gennadi Korotkov and Dominic de Fazio, enriches her coaching and has profoundly influenced my growth as an actor.

The skills I’ve acquired under her mentorship have shaped my approach to acting, whether I’m collaborating with directors like Leyma López at Repertorio Español or tackling complex film roles. I credit much of my success to her early influence and ongoing support, which have been pivotal in my development as a performer.
