Meet Ash Maynor | Producer / Multi-instrumentalist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ash Maynor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ash, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I’ve certainly faced numerous setbacks while building deathx_xhead. Many musicians and producers encounter this reality while climbing the industry mountain. However, it’s important to remember to get back up, no matter how difficult or insurmountable the obstacle may seem. At the end of the day, life is a marathon, not a sprint, so I strive to keep setbacks in perspective and not let them appear larger than they are.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Anything worthwhile is rarely easy to come by. The seeds of deathx_xhead were planted long ago, but the project truly took off during the pandemic when, like everyone else, I was cut off from human interactions. With plenty of time on my hands, I spent hours in my makeshift studio, which was set up in my kitchen at the time. What I love most about deathx_xhead is its cathartic nature, allowing me to pursue my dreams and connect with other like-minded individuals. I guess the one thing I’d like the world to know about deathx_xhead is that my music isn’t meant to be safe or everyone’s cup of tea. I will always push boundaries, both sonically and visually, because that’s an intrinsic part of who I am.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
During the week, I like to visit Finca to Filter in my neighborhood and explore the amazing outdoor spots here, such as Cascade Springs, the Beltline, and the Botanical Gardens. My top food spots to grab food are Victory, The Local, Ruki’s, Bibi, and Pollo Primo. For drinks, I usually go to Boogs, unless I’m feeling classy, then it’s the Kimball House.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Deathx_xhead started as a dream of mine, but it wouldn’t be the brand it is today without the support of my team of creatives. Releasing new music and gaining traction in today’s challenging music industry truly takes a village. I’d like to give a special shoutout to my partner in crime on music production, Aki Ehara, my better half and creative art director, Marion Maynor, and the man behind the camera, November.
