We had the good fortune of connecting with Apryl Beverly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Apryl, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My family comes first, and I set non-negotiable boundaries in my business to ensure I don’t sacrifice my husband or son for the sake of securing the bag. Now, to keep it real, I haven’t always run my business in that manner. Unfortunately, in those early years, some of my choices nearly left me lonely and single.

You know, it’s easy to get caught up in the hype of running a business, but as a mom, wife and boss, I have to remember that running the business is what I do, it’s NOT who I am.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started BAAB Writing and Marketing Services with a laptop, an ugly website, some perforated business cards from OfficeMax and an incredibly supportive husband. I wholeheartedly believe that a “closed mouth doesn’t get fed,” so I made my first 6 figures during my first full year in business mostly by reaching out to previous employers and letting them know about opportunities to hire me as a freelancer.

Under the umbrella of my core business, BAAB Writing and Marketing Services, we offer communications and marketing consulting services, training resources through our membership program and “done-for-you” copywriting services via Word Stylistz, which is the first female-owned flat-rate sales writing platform.

We serve everyone from billion-dollar corporations to just-getting-started entrepreneurs. What bridges the gap between every entity we serve is that all of our clients cater to the unique needs of multicultural audiences.

Today, I run a seven-figure agency with an all-female team of writers, editors and project managers who unite to ensure our clients receive compelling sales, marketing and promotional content that speaks to the hearts and wallets of the diverse, multicultural audiences they serve.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hmmm, I’m still fairly new to the city and with COVID, I don’t get out much, but here’s my short list:

Ponce City Market
Georgia Aquarium
Andretti’s
Publico
Atlantic Station

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this shoutout to my husband, the one who believes in me even when I don’t believe in myself. I also dedicate it to my son for making sure mommy maintains a good work/life balance. Lastly, I want to dedicate this shoutout to all of the service providers, creatives, coaches, experts and other goal-getters who read and share my content, tell their biz besties about my brand and just show love however they can. Without you, there’d be no Word Stylistz, so I’m forever grateful for your support!
