We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony “Premier” Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anthony “Premier”, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I strongly believe Risk taking plays a huge role in my profession. Comfortably is the Enemy of Growth. If you aren’t consistently putting yourself out there whether it be taking classes, going to auditions etc. are you really living up to YOUR best potential? I believe that with any profession is important to push past ANY limits set. Within being a Choreographer, you walk in acknowledging that everyone may not understand your “dance language “. So your thought process becomes what steps can I take to ensure the story I need told is translated successfully on my students. In life there will be so many No’s before getting that grand opportunity to show what your made of. Welcome all the obstacles, tears and TEMPORARY loss because THAT will fuel you to become even greater. To train that much harder so that the next time your presented with an opportunity your gift will be UNDENIABLE.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Some things that set me apart from most choreographers is my approach to classes or gigs. Most teachers focus on getting great footage but my focus is your take away from my class. How did it make you feel? What personal goals did you achieve or set for yourself? My Nature is to Nurture so when my students leave my class inspired I know I’ve done my job. I’m very excited about my future because I have a bit of an “Underdog” story. Moving to Atlanta alone, being scammed thousands of what I saved and fighting to make a great name for myself are just a few trials and tribulations I’ve been through. So No, getting to the point where I am now has not been easy, However, I’m so glad I went through it. My struggle has made me fight, grind and want it that much more. There has been plenty of times where I questioned am I on the right path but talking to God helped regain my focus and kept me 10 toes down knowing this is my calling!

My story and brand is continuing to Surpass any limitations! Realizing everything happens for a reason and my Season is approaching.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wow. So a weekend with my best friend visiting me would be as follows: Breakfast at the Broken Egg, Then go the World of Coca-Cola to be Tourists haha. Take a power nap and Go to Main Event so I can talk trash and show off these bowling skills with essential Laser tag techniques! Then grab some dinner and drinks at Hooters to celebrate my victories!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s a huge shoutout to my mentor Tamara Whitehead of Triple 7 dance studio! Her support and belief in my gift elevated me in so many ways. I’m forever grateful.
