We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Prainito and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking is a very large part of why most people avoid becoming entrepreneurs. Taking the risk to start my own business was the best decision I have ever made in my career. Yes, it will be scary in the beginning, but if you have a passion please pursue it. The best thing about working for yourself is that you have the ability to create your own schedule and timeline for what and when things need to get done. The hardest part is that things often fall on you if employees are not reliable, or something unpredictable happens.

Taking such a big risk and following my passion has made me enjoy my job more than I ever have in the past, even though it seems I work twice as much.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am most proud of starting my business alone, and having so much business in the first 5 months that I needed to hire someone. Having employees is the most important part of your business. Hiring the correct employees is another very important key. Be selective, and hire people that are also passionate about the job.

What sets Chic Atlanta Chef LLC apart from other personal chef services is that we are so passionate about food and the service we provide. The food we provide to clients has to be top notch in quality, appearance, & taste. Service has to be impeccable.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite thing to do in Atlanta, restaurant hop. I love checking out new restaurant spots and getting a few items from each place and sharing everything with friends. It’s a great way to explore the “bests” of the menu, and by eating family style you don’t have to commit to one dish. If you don’t like that dish, there are others you can enjoy. It’s also a great way to try something you wouldn’t normally order (who knows it might become your new favorite thing).

The nightlife is also fun, but I’ve sort of grown out of it. I’m usually working and the 3/4am nights don’t go well with productivity.

I am lucky to be in a city where I can find a restaurant from almost any country/culture. Growing my expertise in international cuisine has always been a passion of mine. The coolest part about being a chef is that you really can’t know everything, but you can try and learn as much as possible.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shawn Ramirez was my first chef manager & mentor. He was patient with me in the beginning, and taught me how to be successful in this career. How to keep clients happy is key, and always push your unique & creative self!

-Thanks so much, you rock!
