We had the good fortune of connecting with Alta and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alta, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
One thing about the natural skincare industry that outsiders are probably unaware of is there are a lot of brands that advertise as “all-natural” that truly are not. When I first started making my own products, I did a lot of research on suppliers of natural ingredients as I wanted to ensure I could supply quality products that smelled amazing but also were great for the skin inside and out. We do a great job at supplying a variety of delectable smelling products, whether it be a blend of essential oils or phthalate free fragrances.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Better Body Essentials was birthed from what I considered, at the time, one of the worst moments of my life. Circa 2016, sitting in a sterile waiting room, pondering all the reasons why I had been called back in after my routine check-up. However, none of the reasons led me to the cervical cancer diagnosis. Yes, cervical cancer grade 4 cell damage…I was in complete shock! But relieved to know only a small area had been affected and could be surgically removed. So I spent my 27th birth on bed rest as I recovered but that gave me lots of time to think.
And I thought a lot about what could have contributed to my cancer as I’m a conscious eater, and that’s when I started to examine my daily beauty routine and discovered I wasn’t so conscious after all. So I decided to make a change to natural products all around and naturally opted to create my own. Thus the birth of Better Body Essentials.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly, I am a homebody but I love history and to eat so I would probably plan and trip to APEX museum or Atlanta History Center followed by dinner Home Grown…Oh and definitely have to checkout Slutty Vegan because vegan or not their food is amazing
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank all my loyal BBE customers old and new. My family &friends for all their continued support and encouragement. Special shoutout to Jordan who encouraged me to keep going when I wanted to throw the towel and for all the guidance solicited or not lol
