We had the good fortune of connecting with Alonzo/Bridgett Patrick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alonzo/Bridgett, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
We stopped making decisions without putting God first.

What should our readers know about your business?
Street Treats Dessert Café isn’t just a dessert shop — it’s a movement built around joy, community, and second chances. We started as a nostalgic neighborhood ice cream truck, inspired by the simple happiness we experienced growing up, chasing down ice cream trucks and building memories. We wanted to give that back to our community — especially in a place where there were few food options beyond fast food.

What sets us apart is our commitment to handcrafted, fresh-baked desserts made with love, as well as the way we creatively blend food, family, and fun. Our brand has grown from a mobile truck to a full café, personal chef service, vending operation, and community hub offering everything from catering to kids’ events, weekly specials, secret menus, and interactive experiences like “Cakes & Canvas” and “Scoops & Stuff.”

It hasn’t been easy. We’ve dealt with limited capital, tight labor resources, and growing demand that often outpaced our bandwidth. But we’ve kept going. We reinvest every dollar, hustle through catering gigs to pay off old debts, and lean into our faith and family values to stay focused. One of our proudest achievements was catering multiple large events that brought in thousands in just weeks — not just to build revenue, but to prove that our food and mission speak for themselves.

The biggest lesson we’ve learned is that heart matters more than hype. You don’t need a million dollars to build a million-dollar brand — you need community, consistency, and creativity. Our Street Committee subscriber program, and our colorful events are all extensions of that energy.

We want the world to know that Street Treats is more than desserts. We’re family-owned, veteran-founded, Albany State alumni-run — and every cinnamon roll, every scoop, every cupcake tells a story of resilience, celebration, and sweet success.
