We had the good fortune of connecting with Alisha McKiver-Carson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alisha, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I believe the practice of gratitude has tremendously influenced my success. Just being grateful for the small things has made way for larger blessings. Gratitude really gives you a different perspective of life and adds to one’s happiness. The happier you are, the more functional you are, in business and in life. Even while experiencing a loss or failure, you can see how it has added to your life in some way and be thankful for the experience.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The work we do at Newman’s Catering is truly a work of love. Being a part of family events, fun times, and sometimes even the harder times, with beautiful people is truly a blessing. Being able to add an amazing feeling to the room by way of delicious meals and hor d’oeuvres is such a satisfying feeling for me. I’ve grown in this business by being willing to always learn, always work hard, and always challenge myself to do better and give more than before! It’s not always easy, but definitely so rewarding! You can accomplish any goal you dream, with persistence and hard work.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Savannah is a beautiful city filled with so many fun things to try! I’d definitely start downtown! Savannah’s downtown area has some of the best shopping, lounges, fine dining, dessert spots, and live entertainment. We would definitely check out restaurants like Belford’s and Good Times Jazz Bar & restaurant. This week would be filled with ghost tours, trips to the beach, Paint with a Twist, massages, and lots of food!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d definitely like to dedicate this to my husband and children. They are my reasons and why’s! They are my support during busy events and most crucial times. They are my laughs when I need them most. I love you guys!
