Meet Alesia Dawson: Brand Strategist & Purpose Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alesia Dawson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alesia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I just wanted to solve my problem. I was diagnosed with the silent plague of graduation and I needed a cure. I saw a common problem that no one warned us about but majority of people experienced. I graduated college with literally nothing but a degree and a desire to be great. It felt like I walked across the stage right into a brick wall. I had no job opportunities, outside of the bottom of the barrel positions offered. I moved back home, dreading the question of what’s next?! I looked around and saw majority of college graduates was in the same place I was. It was that place that I was introduced to vision and purpose from my mentor. I intentionally began my rough journey to vision in purpose. In solving my problem, I discovered I want to use this method to help other people like me to solve this problem their way. I did it through starting my own business because I wanted to be the “from the ground up” example to my clients. They will see a successful business built from the ground up which will inspire them to tap into themselves to see what can be built in their lives.
What should our readers know about your business?
The Rough Diamond Empire helps you tap into your secret weapon, YOU! What sets us apart is that YOU are our focus. We strive to introduce you to YOU! We do so through assisting individuals in discovering, defining and dominating their purpose. A lot of people have the tendency to settle for what life gives them rather than pushing beyond their limits to see what their purpose has to offer. It excites me to know that through every client I help will be another transformed seed planted in this world, that will produce good fruit. I got to this point by tapping into what I love. I heard the quote “If you do what you love you never have to work a day in your life” Coming from a working class family I didn’t want to fall into the cycle of living to working. Therefore, I set out to discover what I love! This journey is not easy at all, but I believe it will be worth it. How I overcome challenges is through vision! I believe vision is a strong internal foundation to stand on, therefore, no external obstacle can compete. It’s my vision of my legacy that drives me to endure the slow season with no sales. Its my vision of financial freedom that drives me to endure a global pandemic. One of my biggest lessons I have learned is that there is a difference between failing and quitting. Just because people associate the two as one, doesn’t mean that they are the same. I had to realize that, I am going to fail. I will fail more than I succeed. However, I will not quit.
If The Rough Diamond Empire was a person it would be a realist with a vision. We push the reality that the road will not be easy, however It will be worth it. It’s in the logo..
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There is sooo much to do in the city of Charlotte!! Anyone that comes to visit me, we have to go to Mr. Charles Chicken and Fish. On Saturdays and/or Sundays we brunch! We would try out Easy Like Sunday, Stir, or a Stats brunch. On Saturday, we may check out my friends poetry slam/open mic day party “Moans and Mimosa” at Sections at Recess. Then we will hit my favorite spot in Charlotte, Barreled at the Lift. It’s a small, upscale hookah lounge with great drinks and an even better vibe. On Sunday, before brunch, we would check out Greater Church – Charlotte to get the week started right. If its a beautiful day, after brunch, we will go to 1501 S Mint Lounge to cap off the weekend. Of course, we can add in whatever they want to do.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Huge Shoutout to my parents!! It was watching their journey (every up and down) and the transparency of sharing their experiences that has molded me into who I am today. Thank you for enduring your hard times, I peeped! Through your endurance and guidance, The curse is broken. I love you!
Also Shoutout to my Sisters/Mentors Eve and Amber Craig! You saw something great in me before I saw it in myself. You introduced me to vision by challenging me to discover mine. You spoke into my life, early on. It was that moment that I still carry with me! I love you!
