We had the good fortune of connecting with Aleks Serdar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aleks, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Life is boring when you play it safe. Taking the harder path even when it’s unnecessary sometimes makes life more interesting in general. Especially in the music industry. It’s all about taking risks. Taking on new challenges when least expected helps you see what you’re made of.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Art is meant to be the expression of emotion that is held in us subconsciously right? We don’t feel differently than anyone else. We just may have a different approach just like everyone else. As for Mudbrain, we’ve gone through many of trials with members and relocation. But the band itself is bigger than any of us. At the end of the day, we just want to continue to express ourselves through our music. Regardless of the success we have, that release is all that matters. Mudbrain is in everyone. Everyone has it. Everyone is bat shit crazy. We are just here as a reminder.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly we’re pretty laid back. We don’t need to go anywhere to have a good time. Good company is all that matters. But we do enjoy going to shows and enjoying live rock n roll. We also spend some time going on hikes and enjoying being away from society. So that’s probably an ideal adventure for us.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God first and foremost. Next would be our families for their support through all of our journeys. Without that love and support it wouldn’t be possible. And of course all of the fellow musicians, producers and creatives that have helped us shape our sound and have kept us on the right path towards our success. Nothing is done alone in our group. Without these kinds of people we are nothing.
