We had the good fortune of connecting with Aja Stuckey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aja, what are you inspired by?
I am Inspired by the hate comments and the negative narrative that the people tend to put on me specifically for being a plus size girlie. Frankly i don’t give a care in the world! I love seeing people comment and repost me positively or negatively Im confident enough to know that NOBODY can stop my shine. Being a “fat” “obese” and “big” is something Ive been all my life and Ive never let that stop me from being that bomb person that lights up any room that she walks in.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Jill of all trades! I do hair, Im an influencer and I have many more hats. Although, I don’t really know what I want to pin point as far as a career. I ultimately want to be a plus size influencing icon! It took years for me to gain the confidence that I have now and I want to stand up for the community when they aren’t able to. I want to provide fashion tips, confidence talk and clothes dets on my social platform to help my plus-size girlies all around the world! I want the world to know that its never to late to start hopping out there and experiencing new opportunities and interacting with people outside your social norm.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Im from maryland and we have plenty of good soul food spots i would go to, to show my girl a good ole time, get a couple drinks and listen to gogo music. I love going into washington, dc and clubbing and going to lounges to listen to the culture music (gogo) and eat that good ole hot wing and fries combo!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shout out to God because without him, I wouldn’t be here. I also want to give thanks to my mom and my dad for teaching me how to be me in an authentic way. The plus size community has a big play into why I also have the confidence I do ! Their always behind me and being able to know that your own people support you and not just try to complete against you, its amazing. My friends also give me that hype i need to get thru those “bad days”.
