We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron Lavelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aaron, how do you think about risk?
I think Risk is essential to your success. There is an old saying without risk there’s no reward and I wholeheartedly believe that. I am a gospel artist which can sometimes be interpreted as religious or traditional. Although this may be the case I pride myself in being peculiar as it relates to fashion, faith and music. I also believe in the music industry you take risk by putting yourself out there for judgment and criticism from your peers and the world. Risk taking has played a pivotal role in my success allowing me to be seen and heard by millions of people.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a peculiar Gospel artist with an eccentric sound that I’ve dubbed as Gospel Funk. I am excited about my new single “Watch God Work’ released this summer and very proud to have reached 1.5 million streams globally of my debut album “In God We Trust’ released in 2022. I got to where I am today by working behind the scenes for gospel artist like Le’Andria Johnson, Earnest Pugh, and Beverly Crawford. It wasn’t easy breaking into the industry, I auditioned for television competitions like American Idol, the Voice and Sunday’s Best before pursuing a solo career. I overcame those challenges by facing rejection head on. Being told no gave me the motivation I needed to keep going until I got a yes. I want the world to know about my brand and story is resilience never give up on your dreams even when it feels like it’s impossible to reach. Be different and don’t be afraid to take risk.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to Paschal’s I love soul food especially yams and macaroni and cheese. We would more than likely hang out at Lenox mall one of my favorite malls to shop.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to National Recording Gospel Artist Beverly Crawford, thank you for your wisdom, knowledge and help. Without you none of this would be possible.
