We had the good fortune of connecting with 615mxb and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi 615mxb, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want my legacy to be that I am remembered not just as a first-rate music producer, and not just as an excellent designer, but as an ambassador for my city and people as well. That is why I put the area code “615” in my name. I have a genuine love for where I grew up and nothing can come between that. It is my home.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
What sets me apart from others is that I tend to do things differently. I like to go outside the parameters of what people think a music producer’s purpose and job is supposed to be. Recently I just released a beat tape titled FORECAST and I did that because there are not a lot of producers that are doing that right now.. It is similar to when J Dilla released Donuts and how there are only beats on that album. Not a lot producers are really doing that anymore and I want to bring that trend back.

I got to where I am today really from just trial and error. I am no where close to where I want to be. However, I know I am headed in the right direction. Everything is calculated and organically set up to where it needs to be in life. I know everything will work out. Working on your craft, praying, and trusting God’s timing is a formula that always works.

I have learned along the way the importance of really locking in and not letting anything distract you. When you step into a creative field like this one, you have to understand that it is easy to slow down and get distracted. You will get the best work out of yourself once you block out all of your obstructions.

What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that I make sure to keep everything as organic and genuine as possible. It is vital to express yourself through your art and to not hold anything back. I want people to see the name “615mxb” and talk about how authentic and pure the music is.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I always appreciate traveling to Atlanta, genuinely because of just the vibrant energy down there. Everyone is so ambitious and it is like being placed in a new Harlem Renaissance. There is no place like it. Personally, I always enjoy going to Six Flags Over Georgia when I’m down there. I also enjoy just driving around and seeing great works of architecture such as the Mercedes-Benz Stadium and the Georgia Pacific Tower. I am really looking forward to visiting the High Museum of Art. I have heard so many great things about it and it is now something I have to do the next time I am in Atlanta.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my family. They are always in my corner when I need them and they mean everything to me. My parents are always very supportive when it comes to my goals and aspirations. My little brothers are always supportive as well and they give me different perspectives and ideas when it comes to music, art, and life. I would not trade any of them for the world.
