We had the good fortune of connecting with Keira Dawson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keira, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I have always been a risk taker. I joined the Army straight out of High School with little knowledge of what I was getting myself in to. Since doing that, I’ve always jumped out there with different ideas and acted on them. I feel that risks are there to show you that you can survive outside of your comfort zone. A lot of people don’t believe that. Risks are in a way, good for business. It helps you venture out of the norm and think outside of the box. When I started my business, I had no knowledge of permanent makeup or micropigmentation. I had no idea my service even existed. When I stumbled upon it, I knew right away that I would love to get into this business. So far, its been fun. I try to keep it that way because its so easy to lose focus and start to worry about numbers and metrics and clients! I love the pace so far, its teaching me other things about my business that I think I would miss if I was slammed busy right away.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Micropigmentation Technician who specializes in Stretch Mark and Scar Camouflage. Compared to other services, my services are non-invasive so there is no down time after the treatments. The treatments are also semi-permanent and can last up to 8-10 plus years before a touch may be needed. I am so excited that I am able to represent and provide this service to individuals who suffer from unwanted stretch marks and scars and even more proud that I can contribute to their gain in confidence they may have lost along the way. I got to where I am today with a whole lot of prayer, notebook paper and support from my family. It is often I have to slow myself down because once an idea is in my head, I can not eat or sleep or move until it is complete. This journey so far has not been the easiest but definitely not the hardest. I would say the hardest thing I had to deal with was getting my permits and the stress of passing my initial inspection from the Health Department. It was all new to me and I’ve never had to meet any state/city/county board standards of that kind so I was very nervous about that. I was able to overcome those fears by praying and realizing that if its for me, its already mine and no one is going to take it away from me. I’ve studied, gone over countless paperwork, I’ve checked every box. I was ready! The biggest lesson I’ve learned along the way is to be PATIENT! Patience is one of those things you constantly hear about but never really gets easy to master. I had to learn that you’re not going to know everything at one time and that time and practice is going to give me the experience I need to be proficient at what I do. It is important to me that the world knows that you are capable of gaining control over your life through prayer, faith and persistence. It is also important that the world knows that VivaSkyn Aesthetics is on the rise and we are here to restore the confidence in those who suffer from unwanted stretch marks and scars. There is a solution because WE ARE THE SOLUTION!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a HUGE foodie. I do not discriminate on some good food. It is a must that my bestfriend and I go to a restaurant in Duluth called Fumi. I absolutely love sushi and the best thing about it is that it also has hibachi! It gets pretty hot in Atlanta so choosing the right place to grab a drink is essential on the weekends. We would head right over to New Orleans Daiquiri Bar & Grill for a Daiquiri and appetizer. I would then show her Centennial Park and take her on the SkyView Ferris Wheel. Its such a wonderful experience that no one forgets. Lastly, with there being so many great hang out spots from Top Golf, Joystick Gamebar, Sky Lounge, Ponce City Market etc, we would wind down the night (or turn up lol) at the Suite Lounge or the rooftop at Cafe Circa.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely owe a huge Shoutout to my Lord and Savior. He’s given me so much strength and courage throughout this whole experience. My husband Jahlani and kids have also been a huge factor in me getting my business off of the ground. They’ve been there to see my vision and have supported every decision I’ve made so far. Nothing is “too much” to them, and I really appreciate their selflessness. I would also like to recognize my family and friends for their support and words of encouragement. They know me more than anyone and they know first hand that I am a very ambitious individual who tends to come up with some of the most interesting things. lol They never have downed any of my ideas, only uplifted them.
