We had the good fortune of connecting with Fahtima Golphin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fahtima, what inspires you?
I am inspired everyday by so many phenomenal black women from my own mother who raised 7 strong amazing children to Rihanna who’s constantly breaking barriers in the beauty industry. It’s the black excellence in women like Issa Rae and Marsai Martin that inspire me to push myself beyond the barriers society set in place for black women. There is no doubt in my mind that now is the time more than ever for black women to be successful in anything we do !
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most proud of my accomplishments this far rather big or small I love seeing myself and my brand grow constantly. There’s always work to be done I didn’t get to where I am today by just talking about it I chose that everyday I’d put time aside for my business it was far from easy but it’s always worth it. A huge lesson I learned along the way is not everyone has the same work ethic so you can’t just work with anyone. When it comes to my brand I want people to know that I take it very personal and it’s only up.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m new to Atlanta but when my friends visit we’re definitely hitting up Buckhead I love Iron hill Brewery near Phipps Plaza and Lennox square is fun. I also love just like driving through Buckhead and seeing all the beautiful homes, it’s giving goals for sure. A day at Piedmont park and a day at Stone Mountain. Marietta square is another place I’d love to check out.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother Lashonda Redd her twin sister Valeria Mohammad and they’re older sister Lakisha Durham are some of the strongest women I know despite loosing both parents at young age they all constantly remind me that anything is possible through hard work dedication and prayer, and there is no age limit on success.
