We had the good fortune of connecting with Ella Z. Norris, MSM and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ella, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk-taking is a crucial part of entrepreneurship. It’s nearly impossible to be a forward-thinking business owner without embracing the fact that you’re taking a risk in an effort to make your wildest ideas and dreams take flight.

I often look back on the many business ideas that I’ve engaged in over the years and it always amazes me how unapologetically risky I was. Frankly, I still am! I’ve given up material possessions, time, money, dead-end friendships and more to make my dreams come to fruition and I’d do it all over again! Sometimes you just have to jump and pray like crazy that your “parachute” opens! It’s risky business for sure but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am certain that most entrepreneurs would agree. It’s all about faith, grit and grind for me!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started my online jewelry business in the spring of 2017. It took me about three months to completely gain confidence in what I was doing. Being in the network marketing industry, many business owners such as myself endure ridicule, doubt and are highly underestimated at times. These hurdles exist simply because many people don’t understand this business model due to false or misleading information. However, one thing that sets my business apart, especially from more traditional businesses, is that I get to legitimately help other women and men from all walks of life become business owners too. Fashion jewelry sells & it sells big! The price point is fixed and it’s affordable. People love buying and selling five dollar jewelry. The excitement never fades!

In times such as this, people are more open to the idea of running a home-based business without needing much capital to start or maintain it. I enjoy seeing everyday individuals just like me reach their goals. This industry has produced so many success stories. I am especially proud of how women of color have slayed in this lane! The magic is real over here! It’s nothing like being connected to other business-minded individuals in such a unique and meaningful way.

As someone who didn’t come from a wealthy background nor did I have tons of resources at my disposal, I learned the value of leveraging relationships. If you can cultivate relationships with integrity & you respect reciprocity, you can build a business in this industry. The success of my jewelry business also gave me the ability to gain my life coaching certification. I am now able to coach part time to pour into others, which is something that I’ve always known that I would do. I have the freedom to be a wife, mom and a boss, that’s a true blessing to me!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Okay, so listen, my besties already know that I am a coffee enthusiast so we would definitely need to start our days with a cup of java from Perc Coffee! A spa day with my girls is a must! I’ve had a chance to visit Spa Bleu and it was absolutely amazing so that would be a definite stop and then we’re headed straight to the beach at Tybee Island. Downtown Savannah will be our evening stomping grounds, there is so much to discover and enjoy. An evening at the Bohemian hotel is a must, their food is amazing! Then we’re turning up on the roof top for cocktails! I love that Savannah has so many places to enjoy yourself!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To the Most High God, You created us to thrive and to witness Your glory on earth! You haven’t stopped looking out for me and I thank You! You are the Light that is within me, I don’t shine without You! Keep the Light on for me.

To my patient, loving and supportive husband Patrick, you are always there, no matter what. Thank you for believing even when I became weary along the way. Thank you for safely trusting the vision. You are the secret to my sauce! I love you so much!

To my children MacKenzie & Elijah, mommy adores you both! I am blessed to have you in this life! Thank you for your love and patience.

To my super supportive family, besties, friends, Sorors and the Elite Style Maven team, THANK YOU & I love you all beyond words! Katrice, your “yes” made room for me! You’re the real MVP! Love you!
