Meet Chiquita Zachery: Skincare

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chiquita Zachery and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chiquita, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe that taking risk leads to success. Every person that has a success story speak about the risk they took for their business to succeed. Starting a skincare line in the middle of a pandemic was a big risk. Working in the airline industry that was hit hard during the pandemic scared me and forced me to bet on myself. I felt I was worth taking the risk and I’m happy I did! It forced me to test my limits and go beyond what I believed was possible. If you never take risks, you will never achieve your dreams.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Skyn by Chi is a CBD infused, cruelty free, vegan skincare line that supports the art of achieving healthy skin. Our mission is to provide you with the tools to renew the natural beauty in you. There’s not many minority owned skincare brands that are catered to women and men of color. By incorporating CBD, and making sure that our products are cruelty-free and vegan was important for our community. I feel this is what sets Skyn by Chi apart from others.

Drive, purpose, passion and personal dedication has definitely gotten me where I am today with Skyn by Chi. Was it easy? Of course not! It takes hard work, long hours and lots of planning. I’m still new to business entrepreneurship but the lesson I’ve learned thus far is that you must invest in your business in order to scale your business.

I’m super excited that Skyn by Chi will be launching our men’s line June 2021.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I most definitely have to shout out Mary Seats (Mz. Skittlez)! Mary is the Kris Jenner and Olivia Pope of Marketing. She is the CEO of The Icing Agency and Gurl Mobb. She has opened new doors for aspiring entrepreneurs like myself. I first ran into Skittlez instagram page and quickly learned that she had two amazing platforms that I knew I needed to jumpstart my business. It was her passionate to help other women for me lol! I joined the Gurl Mobb which is a sisterhood circle of girl bosses that want to win. Gurl Mobb gives you the resources needed for success. The Icing Agency is the platform I used to brand Skyn by Chi. The Icing Agency is a one-stop shop for all of your business needs. They put together everything you need to make your brand stand out from web design, logo design, product labels, photography, social media, etc. Skittlez is definitely someone I admire and I’m so happy that she’s apart of my journey.
