We had the good fortune of connecting with Slick Whiteline and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Slick, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Being creative was something that was always natural to me growing up in Jamaica whether at work or when I kept events. Coming to America pushed me to be more independent, I didn’t want to work for others any more. Last year 2020 God to took me out of a situation an comedy was just a natural progression.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Swanda Powell, a native of Jamaica. I’ve been doing comedy skits for approximately 1 year now I went from 1000 followers to 103k followers. It definitely was a struggle but I applied myself and that brought me to where I’m at today.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take them to believe music hall for an event called “The Rum Punch Brunch” this is literally one of the best places to be in Atlanta.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate a shoutout to Negus Imara. He is a fellow content creator like myself.
