We had the good fortune of connecting with Taya Lucas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taya, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When I think about risk I see the potentiality to win, or fail. I’ve grown up on the saying “No risk, no reward” the uncertainty of taking risks is scary, but you’ll never know the outcome until you take the risk. Also, I encourage having a calculated mind while taking risks, if the cons of the outcome overweight the pros then play it safe (obviously) accepting failure and rejection build character. Everything won’t be a yes, but that doesn’t mean you stop taking the necessary risks to further your life and career. Sometimes the most pivotal experiences are birthed from risks.
I’ve received the best results from passion, and taking risks. The way I overcame challenges was by learning from my mistakes and being observant of my environment(s). The biggest lesson I’ve learned thus far is understanding that timing is everything. There is a time and a place for everything you wish to obtain in life, in addition to proper preparation.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

Kempers Cafe (Metropolitan Pkwy) has the best Caribbean food in the city literally anything on their menu is great.
Atlanta Botanical Garden (Piedmont Ave) is my favorite place to go when I need creative inspiration. It is also a perfect place to capture aesthetically pleasing photos.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
