Meet Shar Cook

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shar Cook and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shar, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
SNUUZE was created about ten years ago and stands for “Sleep Nightly Using Ultimate Zen Essentials!” I suffer from chronic insomnia (if that’s a thing) and I wanted something natural to help me combat this issue. During my internet research, I learned that not only millions of Americans suffer from insomnia, but natural remedies like lavender, passion flower and chamomile are instrumental in relaxation and calming the senses. There’s nothing like a highly-scented lavender candle burning lowly in the background and a nice cup of hot, chamomile tea at bedtime. It helps to ease the days stress and anxiety and I believe that what you put in your body should be equally as important as what you put on your body. From there, I started making body butters, sugar scrubs and scented candles, all from natural, environmental friendly ingredients. PS: Remember to blow the candle out before dozing off!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I worked in the corporate world for several years, but have always had the desire to do, become more. Honestly, I’m not quite where I wanna be, but I am pretty close! In the meantime, I keep my fingers in a little bit of everything. I love interior design and home decor’. I usually do my own home renovation projects and can lay ceramic tile, install chair railing, crown molding, and don’t usually back down on projects that seem intimidating. I own several power tools and I’m pretty skilled with them all! I also draw a little and I absolutely love writing! In fact, I’ve just published my second book, a fictional anthology called “What Happens at Klub Kiss…” which is currently available on Amazon or my website.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Coaxum’s is a really nice restaurant/bar located a little south of Atlanta in Conyers, GA. The ambience is cozy and on the weekends, you can enjoy live jazz while dining to some really tasty foods, drinks and desserts. City Winery in Atlanta is a must! It is a restaurant and bar that also host concerts. The food, drinks and service is exceptional and the venue is just the right size to interact with performers up close and personal. I love hosting events and entertaining at my house as well! I consider myself a pretty good hostess and cook and enjoy having family and friends over especially during the holidays. I can make a killer sweet potato pie and cream cheese pound cake! Come on over, anytime! Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m from a large family and was raised in south Florida. My parents get the credit for the person I am today. The greatest compliment I’ve been given is I’m just like my Mom who was a kind soul with a sweet spirit. They’re gone on to Glory now, but instilled in me and my siblings principals, morals and value. Your word is bond and pretty much all you have in a world that is so full of disparity, chaos and confusion. Do what you say you’re going to do regardless of how insignificant you may think it is. What you say could potentially impact others. Aside from my parents, my daughter Danielle, who is blatantly honest, encourages, supports and inspires me. She motivates me as well and I’m so very proud of the woman she has become.
