We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaylin Kemp and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaylin, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
A life without a passion has no solid foundation, always remember why you started.

This quote really resonates with me because I am a huge advocate of pursuing your passion. I believe that is the purpose of life- finding your purpose and then pursuing it with all that you have. Understanding your passion allows your workdays to become easier because you also understand that the work you are doing is moving toward a “greater good” that is extremely bigger than just yourself.

What should our readers know about your business?
My father had been in construction for decades, and we are now in the family business, and we had never found something that was effective in seeing both individual milestones and big picture project management.

Most of the software we came across was geared towards a single big project – a massive building or stadium – they weren’t thinking about what works for smaller projects at a higher volume. Construction has been an industry that has lagged behind. Companies are looking for ways to improve their processes with technology. There are no dominant software products in this space we are targeting so we have the opportunity to be a part of the wave of innovation that’s happening in construction project management.

We see the first fit being in the construction industry but Frameworq is a tool that can serve many industries in the future.

Our family has run a construction management business for many years. As a family, we all have a different role to play in the business and we each bring different backgrounds and skillsets. We have the advantage of truly knowing each persons strengths and weaknesses and we lean on each other for different things – we all have our lanes we run in and we trust each other. We are always thinking from another perspective which creates a great dynamic for making business decisions.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would want to take them to a restaurant called Michaels, a black-owned gourmet restaurant in the Birmingham area followed by a mall run to the Galleria to check out some sneakers, and also check out Memory Lane for more sneaker shopping. For a night time activity, I would take them to either TopGolf or bowling followed by a few drinks at Hush Lounge, my favorite night life spot in the city,

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to personally give a shoutout to my support system- family and friends. Without them, I would not be where I am today. They motivate me to be the best I can be while also allow me to have the freedom to be myself. As a family-owned business, working together can be challenging at times, but we all understand that we have different roles to play within the business and we lean on one another accordingly. Which, in turn, works very well in building a successful business. We also try to keep work life separate from family life, causing us to work to a high standard as if the company was not a family business. That is what creates a level of excellence for us.
