We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyndall “Monreaux” Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kyndall “Monreaux”, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Growing up I’ve always been taught that it is perfectly fine to be my authentic self at all times. There is only one of you and that is your superpower. That has been the segway for success throughout my life. The Monreaux Method promotes authenticity by customizing one of a kind pieces to reflect the client’s personality and style. It is an honor to create pieces that exude one’s persona. Through each project I aim to help each client feel more comfortable being their authentic self. With the help of satisfied customers promoting my business, The Monreaux Method has grown tremendously in the last year. So you see, being yourself, embracing your differences, and being comfortable in your own skin can be rewarding.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The Monreaux Method specializes is clothing customization. One thing you can count on with a piece from The Monreaux Method is being a showstopper. The customization factor offers a one of one creation that clients absolutely love. Most of my success comes from word of mouth. I actually love that my creations are good conversation pieces and allow clients to promote my business. This hasn’t been the easiest career, especially during COVID-19. However, I have seen tremendous growth during the pandemic that will help shape the future of The Monreaux Method. I want the world to know that it’s never too late to pursue your passion. Following your dreams is a bold move that more people should make!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Coming to Memphis is a treat in itself because the city embodies so much culture and rich history— whether it’s food, music, civil rights, or sports. When it comes to sports, The Grizzlies franchise is unmatched and I know you’ll never meet a die hard basketball fan like a Memphis Tigers fan. Although all of the food is literally the best in the nation, some of my favorite spots are BJ’s Hot Wings, Big Bill’s Bar-Be-Que, Suga Mama Snoballs, Muggin Coffeehouse, 901 Wings, Slider Inn, Dixie Queen, The Four Way, and Slim & Husky’s just to name a few. My favorite after hours spot to catch a vibe is In Love Memphis. You definitely can’t leave the city without visiting the National Civil Rights Museum, the Stax Museum, and the MEMPHIS sign on Mud Island. The best citywide event is Memphis in May— good BBQ, great music, and even better memories with family and friends!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to send a major shoutout to The Monreaux Mafia!!! The Monreaux Mafia is made up of all of my clients. My success is a reflection of your satisfaction, thank you!! I also want to shoutout  Mrs. Jessie Woodson of Arlean Elizabeth Couture for being the best mentor a creative/seamstress could have!
