We had the good fortune of connecting with Chasline Fontenot and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chasline, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from Mamou, Louisiana. I was raised in a very spiritual family. Both my grandfather and my father pastor a church for over 20 years now. My faith and my belief in God was instilled in me at a very young age and has greatly impacted who I am today. I was taught how to be a woman of God and that my relationship with Christ is the foundation of all that I do and all that I am. It is the inspiration for my business, Identity by Chas.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am known for my original designed Christian t-shirts and what I believe sets me apart is the experiences that birth what I put on them. I hope that my experiences can help, encourage, and inspire someone who may going through a similar situation. I often make the joke “wear my apparel with caution” because what you declare may be tested, but you must remember…. you have already WON. I am most proud that I have the desire to KEEP GOING. Operating a small business is not an easy task, but I remember my “why” and it is the driving force of why I cannot stop. My “why” is rooted at drawing someone to Christ. It has not always been a smooth road and may never be. Running a business will always come with its adversities, but I am learning to push through those moments so that God will be glorified in my brand, in my story, and in my life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spots in the city include my favorite Mexican restaurant of all-time, Huey Luey’s. I go there weekly and most of the staff know my name and order. I love that! I also love the Atlanta Aquarium…sea animals and dolphins bring me so much joy. I could probably just stare at them everyday. I also love love love the Culture Experience Art Gallery in Atlanta. It is an interactive art exhibit celebrating Atlanta culture and my biological brother designed many of the rooms in the exhibit….super cool, right?! Some other places I love around the city include Ponce City Market, Eclipse di Luna, Perimeter Mall, and of course my church….Perfecting Word Deliverance Ministries in Snellville, Ga.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my mother who has sacrificed so much for me to create a beautiful life and who has taught me the importance of hard work, my family and friends who continually love and support me, and my spiritual father who has instilled in me so much Godly wisdom.
