We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexsia Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexsia, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m a native of Monroe, Georgia also known as “Big Walton” or “Da Roe.” Social Circle, Georgia also have a special place in my heart and big influence on my upbringing. Growing up in both cities, you was told to either go to college or get a job, or you’ll either be dead or in jail. That was my fuel to make something out of myself. I did both (college and worked). I can say, as I got older I started to see a path shift with my generation. A lot of us started businesses, became entrepreneurs, artists, and/or do what we love, instead of just what we need to do to survive. It’s beautiful. Especially coming from Monroe, Georgia where the barriers of success for black people historically was stacked against us. Being from where I’m from and my upbringing, I know that I can do anything I put my mind to as long as I keep God first, don’t give up, seize every opportunity that’s intentionally good for me, and keep grinding for what I want. That’s how I’m the person I am today.

Please tell us more about your business. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Mysterylex Visions Photography LLC is my baby. I love my business, and I love creating art, helping boost someone’s self love/mental health, and just seeing people smile when I take pictures of my clients; whether it’s for their personal use or business. It wasn’t easy, some days I wanted to give up. I felt like I was stuck, or that I wasn’t doing something right or that I wasn’t doing enough. I had to get out of my head, and after few talks with my man and friends and family, especially the ones (Aaron, Lesa, and BreAnn) who will fuss me out quick and get me together but in a good way (it’s important to have those type of people in your circle) I was able to overcome mental challenges that was holding me back. Two lessons out of many I learned is that everyone isn’t going to like you, and that’s okay. Also, don’t sell yourself short, stop giving discounts, and lowering prices for people. If they can’t respect your price or you, that’s not your client.

I would like the world to know that you can do anything you put your mind to! Don’t give up, you can do it, and keep God first! Do what you love and love what you do! Block out the noise. Take mental health days to clear your mind or just to rejuvenate. Also love yourself, don’t let anyone bring you down.

With that being said, Mysterylex Visions Photography LLC is ready to bring your visions to life and capture special moments for you to cherish forever.

f you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
See that depends on what city we’re in, if one of my college best friends was in my hometown Monroe, Georgia, we would definitely go to Sussies, or hit up one of our black owned chefs/restaurants. They’re dope! Any other city, it depends on what they have a taste for or if my favorite chefs are available, A.R.T. by Chef Cort, Kitchen 222, BusyMom Meals Vonnie, Chef Marcus Jerome, and Chef Anthony. I’m a foodie, so either way I’m going to eat. I like to see what Hungry Homegirl or Atl Foodies on TikTok post, and of course google/Yelp reviews. As far as hanging out, I’m a brunch, nature, picnic, rooftop restaurants/patio, museum, science, beach, dope hidden spots type. That excites me.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh my goodness! First and foremost, I want to thank God. He’s been with me since day one, he was there, still here, and when the interview drop, he’ll still be pushing me to keep going and blessing me.

I started off with a big paragraph of who to thank, but I don’t want to leave anyone out, so I’m just going to say thank y’all so much from my Love (man) and our puppy Layla, my mommies, family and friends, to former educators and social media/hometown supporters. I love y’all, and thank you for everything.

Especially my angels that’s no longer on Earth and watching over me.
