We had the good fortune of connecting with Mampz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mampz, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose to pursue a creative career because of my love for music and executing. I found that as a manager I get to be a liaison of people and resources. And artists need that analytical person to help them navigate the space and tasks outside of creating their art. My role allows me to creatively come up with solutions and keep the artist doing what they do best. I’ve been in the Army, I’ve worked in corporate and non profit and no other sector makes me feel fulfilled the way talent management has.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I look back at my fairly short career I am proud to see where my hard work and fearlessly network has brought me. Those are the two things that have gotten me to the point where I am now and it is not my end goal but I am in a place that I can be proud of because I know that I got here without a handout and on my own merit. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned and continue to learn in this industry is to “just do the work.” The eyes that I needed on me immediately notice my work ethic and that I do what I say I will do.
I would like the world to know that my brand of “The Plug” is 100 percent true and I’m willing to bet that I can always make things happen. I’m a universal adapter.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spot to have a great drink, wings and hookah is Café Circa on Edgewood.
I like to jog and walk my dog, Panda on the Silver Comet Trail in Smyrna.
And for a nice dinner I enjoy Tribeca in Buckhead.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I will always shoutout and give so much gratitude to my friend, business partner and roommate; Coco. Coco is a publicist and from day one and the very first artist I pursued she has been by my side to cheer me on, help me, hold me accountable and just remind me that I can do this. Before I even believed in myself wholeheartedly, she believed in me, my vision and my passion.
So Coco along with Hell’s Comedy Club deserve a shout out for their unwavering support and always giving me an honest opinion on any of my projects!
