We had the good fortune of connecting with Yakira Lynn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yakira, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking is an action that people are very afraid to take. However, when it came to my life and business, I learned that my biggest accomplishments and opportunities comes from taking risk. I personally do not believe in fear, because it is something that we make up. If the average human was naturally fearless, imagine how many risk takers would be in this world. I also evaluated my biggest inspirations in life a lot, and noticed that they were risk takers, which put them in a light where everyone wish they could be in their position. By noticing that, I was like, “Wait. These are regular people like me. If they are making risk and sacrifices to get what they want, I can do the same thing”. No one stops you from taking large steps in life, but yourself. Once I got that down pack, taking risks became easier and easier. It’s almost natural now.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business, Her Aesthetic, is a creative branding agency. What sets us apart from others is that we are for females! We focus on expanding female brands and we even help females start their business. We provide branding consultations, social media management, graphic design, and public relations. I’m very proud of my journey and I’m more proud of my consistency. In 2019, I graduated from college and went straight into working. Being at my job didn’t feel right at all, so one day, I quit my job and never looked back. From that day until now, I have been working my a** off! I’m excited about the future, because I know that Her Aesthetic will be big. It hasn’t been an easy road at all. I’ve gained clients, lost clients, gained money, loss money. There were even days when I thought that this wasn’t for me, but throughout everything, I learned a major lesson. That is to always believe that what is for me, will always be for me. If this is a path that I created and have been successful since it started, I can’t let “down days” make me give up. Mentally and spiritually, I’m way stronger than that. I changed my mindset and now days where business is slow, it technically isn’t considered as a bad day. It’s simply the game. I want the world to know what I’m coming harder and I’m never letting up. Say it with me, Her Aesthetic.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would say to go on a food tour and hit up a few clubs. For restaurants, hit up Kandi Burrus soul food spot, Milkdrop Biscuits, Lily’s Restaurant and Bar, and more. If you’re in the mood to visit a museum, The Trap Museum and the Selfie Museum are great places to visits.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First thing first, I want to give a huge shout out to the God and the universe. He doesn’t play about me at all. I constantly manifest/affirm what I want in life, and things always fall into my lap. I also want to shout out Nasirr Mayo, owner of NG Visions (@ngvisions on instagram) . He is a very special person in my life that has been supporting me 1000% since day one. He teaches me many lessons in life and business without any judgement. Those type of people are VERY important to have around while building a business and empire.
