We had the good fortune of connecting with Don “Rhythm” Sparks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Don “Rhythm”, why did you pursue a creative career?
Creativity feeds my soul and brings me joy! I wanted to build my career life around that joy. I also wanted others to experience a similar feeling through my work. Sharing my joy with others was the driving factor in choosing to be an artist and creative
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My latest business endeavor is called, BLISScakedup! We create blissful flavor infused mini butter cakes that we call, B:LISScakes. Getting started was far from easy, since we launched during the pandemic. We utilized social media and client reviews to get the word out. Like my music, my goal was to give customers the opportunity to experience what I experience from an amazing dessert, BLISS. I’ve leaned many lessons along the way, but the number 1 lesson would be to find innovative ways to connect with current and future customers. I’m always learning and asking others how they learn about new products and services. You can’t just depend on social media, the best connections with people are often the ones built around a conversation. Our Mission: To create taste experiences that inspire positive change and encourage unity, while fostering an environment that promotes service to others
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta has tons of great places to experience. My fav breakfast spots are Folk Art, Ria’s Bluebird, Thumbs Up Diner and Atlanta Breakfast Club. i also enjoy the outdoors, so Piedmont Park and the Atlanta Beltline are great spots for outdoor activities and people watching. Other great food options are Slutty Vegan, Ammazza Pizza, Taqueria De Sol, Anna’s BBQ and Krog St and Ponce City markets. Oh Yeah, you can’t forget about dessert! The S+H cinnamon rolls at Slim+Husky’s are insanely delish! Sublime Doughnuts, Jeni’s Ice Cream and for late night, Cafe Intermezzo.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother Arline Sparks was my champion supporter, mentor and encourager! She was an amazing woman of God who dedicated her life to the care and support of others. She recently passed away in Dec of 2019 and will forever encourage and support from the heavens above.
