We had the good fortune of connecting with Alora Tefariah and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alora, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued my career as an author because I knew I had a gift at a very young age and wanted to share it with the world!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’d like to believe what sets me apart from other authors is that I create almost all genres. I never wanted to be placed inside of a box! My very first project, Which Sistars: Mortem, is an urban fantasy filled with science fiction, erotica and magic! Where my new series N.A.S. & B.A.E. is a collection of short stories based off real life experiences and my next project All Roads Lead To Dubai, is your classic urban novel that show the readers the true lifestyle behind most IG models. You see I want eventually tap into all markets and have a fan base that genuinely loves great story telling. When people ask me what got me where I am today my answer is simple, consistency. Being consistent in your craft and your professional relationships will definitely get you far. As far as challenges I’ve faced along the way would most definitely have to be the shutdown of 2020. My event planning company was completely put on hold as well as all festivals and networking events. It forced me to change my marketing solely online but it definitely proved that when being an entrepreneur you must be able to adapt. One of the biggest lessons I learned outside of that is, your biggest supporters will come from strangers!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Here in Atlanta, before Covid, you could catch me on Peters street downtown. Escobar, Frost Bistro and Spin were my favorite hangouts. Of course Atlanta has some great food spots like, breakfast at Barney’s, peach cobbler café and since I’m from the Southside I can’t forget Annie Laura’s in Riverdale so if you’re not from here you definitely have to check those spots out!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A huge part of my hunger for success and entrepreneurship is my mother and my daughter. My mom has been an entrepreneur all my life and my daughter gave me that extra push to jump out on faith! They truly deserve all the credit for pushing me forward.
