We had the good fortune of connecting with ALEXXUS CARR and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi ALEXXUS, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand or just in the general industry I am in is perseverance. In order to stay working and active in the entertainment industry, specifically dance industry, you have to continuously prove yourself. You must continue to be the trend and “in style”. There are no limits to where you can go but nothing is ever guaranteed. Its like you can be on top one day, week, year, decade, and then all of a sudden be nothing, industry wise that is. The key to continuing the success is to never stop creating, working, learning, and know that there may be dry spells but if you continue and persevere you are always bound to bounce back.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Dance is my passion, my first love, my everything. There is something about dance that literally makes me whole. There were times when I stopped dancing or did not dance as much and it is like everything was going wrong. It was simply because I need dance, it balances me and is my escape. Dance has taken me so many different places and I have met so many different people. It has allowed me to push way past my comfort level, it has created me to experience many different emotions, and has overall created a spark in my life. The dancer I am today is a totally different dancer than I was just a year ago and I am most proud of that. I continue to grow and elevate in my dance career. I’ve learned that nothing worth having comes easy and there are so many great dancers that you really have to work your butt off to stay booked. Proud of the growth and success thus far but I am only going further because there is no limit.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came in town there are definitely a few spots I’d have to make sure she experiences! I am definitely a homebody but I am very outgoing as well so I don’t know too many spots but there are a few favs! We love hookah so I’d have to get her to a lounge probably somewhere in midtown or downtown. I love bowling so I’d make sure we get in a game or two at midtown bowling or bowlero! Of course we’d have to eat so some spots I’d consider would be Slutty vegan, The Hive, Juicy Crab, and Olive garden just because that is my favorite restaurant. Now, I know I said homebody but I am a dancer and definitely like to hit the dance floor sometimes so Id make sure we hit a lounge or cute club like Gold room, Oak, or Medusa! A few other places I’d feel like would be go to’s would be the Trap Museum, Botanical garden, Cascade, Ponce city market, and definitely Atlantic Station!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my friends and family, They have always supported me through my dance journey, even when I felt like I was not good enough. They uplifted me when I get frustrated or defeated about this career path because it is not easy. I am very thankful for my village because believe or not I don’t believe I could have done it without them.
